    Default Recommend a Mascara!

For years I've been on a quest for "the one" in mascara. Many times I thought I found it, only for it to be not so great after a couple uses. Here's my wants:

    -Very Black
    - makes my lashes full and dramatic, length is nice but optional since my lashes are already long.
    -no clumping or flaking
-not expensive (No more than $15USD please)

My favorite for a while now has been Maybelline's Intense XXL. I use the washable version, but they do make a waterproof one; only I've never tried it. Like you, my lashes are long to begin with. If I want drama, I use the white first coat to make them scary long, and top with a couple coats of the black. It also suits me for the day when I don't use the white coat and just stick to the black. Plus, its really dark, which is how I like my mascara.

Here's the link so you can see the pic:

It's only around 6 bucks, so it might be worth a try

    But it's 23 bucks.

Maybelline's Great Lash mascara always gets mentioned on instyle's list of good products.

^^ Yeah I read that often, however I read the reviews at MakeUp Alley and they all said that it seems to be more like a cult choice than an actualy good one if that makes any sense. I tried it long ago and it just wasn't right for me.

And as far as an expensive mascara like you suggested Natalie, here's my issue:

I am pretty broke (supporting my family in a big house with a delivery driver's salary) and my big splurges are usually in the $10-$15 range. Yeah, I know My foundation right now is my biggest splurge at $10 right now, unless you count the MAC eye pigments I have, but I bought those over a year ago. The most expensive mascara I have ever bought was my last tube which was Max Factor's 2000 calorie and that was about $13.(started getting clumpy and flaky after a while)

it is the holy grail of mascara, imo...but I love the new Lash Injection from Too Faced too.

still both a little on the expensive side, but it's like false lashes, which are way more....so it's cheaper when you look at it like that!

I adore Lash in a Tube from Physicians Formula. My lashes are thick and long without clumps and it lasts forever! About $12

Great Lash blows. My lashes are hard as rocks after putting that stuff on...like I shellacked them. Horrible. I tried it a cpl times and always endedup throwing it out.

i need help on this too, but my problem is that my eyelashes are thin and SPARSE.

i think lancome and dior test on animals? but i could be wrong.. i won't buy from either if so. is that too faced stuff pretty easy on sensitive skinned people? i've heard the diorshow isn't......

I just started using Revlon 3D mascara. It has a very unique brush head which is how I've been getting my lashes looking great lately. They have black, but then they also have 'blackest black'. It's under $13.

Also, at some point this evening I'm going to try a new mascara, kiss me mascara, and post a review in that thread. I got it for free at sephora- don't know how much it costs though.

BTW, I do NEED make up remover with the revlon mascara (and no, I don't have the waterproof one).

My 2 faves are L'oreal Telescopic and Covergirl Fantastic Lash. Usually I use the Telescopic first, then the Fantastic Lash Waterproof over that. I curl my lashes after I apply, which I know is wrong, but it works - looks like I am wearing false eyelashes! Each one is also great on it's on, and probably costs less than $8.00 a tube!

I cant live without Dior show black mascara, its a little expensive but well worth it. The wand is really thick so it gets every lash.

^^Yeah, that's the one I'm using. Maybe I just need to apply more, because it doesn't seem very voluminous..

L'oreal Voluminous as well for me. I get the waterproof formula so my curl holds and there's no raccoon eyes ever. Perfect, and cheap.

yeah, that stuff is really really nice. it's like AU$60 or something ridiculous here though

is diorshow really that good? my lashes are quite thin and short, so having a good mascara is important to me.

in terms of the cheaper stuff, i really like max factor masterpiece.

No, it hasn't been clumpy for me. I just make sure to not apply too many coats, thats what ruins it for me... I always want them bigger and bigger!! Ha. I need to know when to stop The brush is really full and it gets all of my lashes up and about!
