    Lightbulb How to gain weight?

    Help!

I've never had this problem my entire life-actually it's always been the opposite. For months now, I have been eating crap to try and gain and it is NOT helping.

Read: chicken strips, large fries and milkshakes from Jack in the Crack (I get this after work and eat it right before bed!), stuffed crust pizzas, bowls of Rocky Road ice cream, hamburgers, fried foods, chips, everything. It's not helping. My pantry and refrigerator looks like pothead paradise!

I need to gain about 10 pounds to get my curves and boobies back.

You're doing all the right things to gain weight. Skip breakfast, eat a big fatty lunch rich in carbs, then a big fatty dinner with lots of carbs. It's not just the types of foods though, it's the amount of calories.

The biggest calorie bombs are muffins, bagels, and lasagna. So If you really want to gain wight, slather some butter on these bad boys and go to town. Good luck.

Are you underweight? Is your BMI normal?

You say you have to gain 10 pounds to get your curves back? How did you lose it in the first place?

What you are talking about doesn't sound good for you at all.

    Are you fucking serious???

Are you actually a doctor? Because no doctor in his right fucking mind would say thoes are the right things to gain weight...Skip Breakfast eat fatty foods Slather shit in butter.

Dude..that is honestly the worst fucking advice I ever heard.

I highly doubt that she wants to gain 10lbs of pure fat and cellulite, and clog her arteries...and all the other crap that goes along with the advice you just gave. Very unhealthy!

You can gain weight the healthy way, and the unhealthy way, just as you can lose weight healthy and unhealthy.

    My advice:
    Eat healthy, increase calories.
    Eat Breakfast!!
Lunch, dinner and snacks as well.

Exercise a little less...but don't cut it out compeltly.

But...You may want to see a dcotor to fiure out why your losing, and why you can't gain.....

    And "Dr." Wuf...

You completly just lost all credibility.

^^I'm 5'2 and 108 and a friggin size 2. I don't look good at this weight at all even though it is technically not considered underweight. It doesn't fit my frame.

I'd like to get back to a 6. I've lost all this weight through dancing and getting cardio exercise and building some muscle at work.

For the last 13 years of my life (until I started dancing) I have weighed around 130-135 and topped out at 145 a couple of years ago. I've always had trouble losing weight, so I'm not used to this and don't know what to do.

Dancing is the only workout that I get and until recently my eating habits were exactly the same.

I'm eating all this junk and I'm not gaining, I'm losing.

    Maybe see a doctor?

    Btw, thanks Kaylinn

First, see your physician and get a full physical along with a thyroid check and cancer screening. Second, check with a nutritionist for a healthy, reasonable plan of attack. Honestly, in med school, we get about a week's worth of nutrition education. Go see someone with extensive training and set up an eating plan that will help you gain and keep your arteries and liver healthy.

If this is the advice you give to your patients, I'm surprised any of them are still alive. Please stop giving advice to our members before you do some serious damage. And please dnt speak for us. Nobody hates her for this dumbass.

To the OP...go see a dr and make sure there isnt a physiological issue(thyroid, etc) that is making you lose weight. The dr can recommend a nutritionist and set up a menu that will help you add weight without putting your health at risk.

I have the same problem and someone on here told me to try Muscle Milk. You can get it at GNC and stores like that. You're supposed to mix it with water or milk and drink it like 3 times a day, but I've been slacking so I couldn't tell you if it works or not but it's supposed to. There's also alot of other weight gain products in GNC. You could ask someone behind the counter what would be good to try.

Wanna trade? I'm opposite of you Anyway, I agree with seeing a nutritionist. Definitely avoid the junk. You want calories, but not those kinds of calories. Protein shakes may help, maybe the weight gaining shakes too.

I was also going to suggest Ensure or Boost. Not as meal replacements at all, just an easy way to throw some extra calories into your day. Strawberry tastes the best, IMO.

Drink creatine and protein shakes and eat a lot of meat and dairy if you want to gain quickly. Combine this with working out.

To clear any misconceptions, I'm not recommending this diet to anyone but people looking to gain weight in a short amount of time. Nor does my advice represent a plan for long term eating patterns.

This advice I've given is strictly for body builders and people trying to gain mass in a short period of time. A high calorie diet (as was my suggestion) over a few weeks in someone who is her age and weight comes with no additional health risk. She will see results long long before any risk comes about.

If you are looking for a longer term solution, there is a less "shocking" way to gain weight that involves many small meals of complex carbs and simple sugars. As mentioned, a nutritionist is the best person to see in this case.

Also, I'm sorry if anyone was offended by my post. The responses from this thread have been quite surprising to say the least.

Add healthy fats to your diet. You can add tons of calories using oils, avocados, nuts, fatty fish and so on. Lasangna can be pretty healthy if you make it with whole wheat noodles, stuff it with veggies and fresh sauces, etc.

It's just as unhealthy to stuff yourself unnaturally (with junk yet) to gain as it is to undereat to lose a few. Don't try to gain it all back at once.

Body builders tend to work on protein, not carbs, to bulk up. Eating a lot of butter isn't high on their list of foods to create weight. A giant rare steak with fries is, though.

But isn't the goal of body builders to gain muscle? The OP sounds like she's just looking specifically for T&A, which is fatty tissue, not muscle mass. In which case the (healthy) fats and carbs come more into play.

    (ehow.com had some good advice.)
Eat nutritious foods that are high in calories. Examples are whole-grain breads, vegetables such as avocados and potatoes, kidney beans, lean red meat, poultry and fish.

Increase the caloric value of your meals. Add powdered milk to casseroles for added calories, add avocados and olives to sandwiches, add wheat germ to your cereal, add chopped meat to your pasta sauce, and so on.

Avoid skipping meals. Eat three meals a day and at least two snacks.

Increase your normal portion size. Take a second scoop of pasta, or add two bananas to your oatmeal.

Choose higher-calorie foods when given a choice. For example, corn is higher in calories than green beans.

Relax - excessive fidgeting and restlessness can burn up a lot of calories.

Add weight lifting to your exercise program. It helps build muscle mass.

Balance your caloric intake with the number of calories you're burning. You need to be taking in more than you use up, and you may need to ease up a little on your exercise program.

    Tips & Warnings:
You should have a doctor rule out any physical problems, such as hormonal imbalances, if you cannot seem to put on any weight.
Although it seems like a logical way to bulk up, avoid adding excess fat and sweets to your diet. Eat fats and oils in moderation; they should account for no more than 30 percent of your total caloric intake.

Last November I decided as well that I was just way to skinny...Here's what I did...

Whey Protein in smoothies! It's a white powder and you just mix it in with your smoothie. Most health food stores will carry it.

Since Nov. I have gained 35 wonderful pounds and now I'm sitting pretty at my ideal weight.

.... ^^ if you want a good extra protein source, go for a weight-gainer with a complex protein blend (egg, whey, and casein... each protein has a different absorption rate, so your body will actually GET the protein you are feeding it, as the body can only absorb so much protein at once, so you must 'stage' the protein uptakes, if you will) and a complex carb source high in fiber. but be wary of excess sugars. Best weight gainer???? Either MHP's "weight gainer" or even their 'meal replacements' (mrp's) used NOT as meal replacements, but as extra shakes with meals/as snacks.
MHP (maximum human performance... the brand) is EXTREMEly high quality ingredients.... and yes, i managed a gnc for a long time.

whey alone is not the best for weight-gaining purposes. as an extra protein sourse it is ok... but most whey's are cheapo, and it is best used as a recovery post-workout protein or for morning protein shakes.
