Default Pyurvate-Fat Burner. Anyone familiar with this?

I got some Fat Burn 2, by the brand Apex, from the gym. My trainer recommends it. Reading the directions, I'm supposed to take 6 of these bad boys a day. Holy shit, these are BIG pills too!

Anyone seen any results with this using it as a supplement to diet and excercise? Thanks!

I used to train at a gym that sold Apex products, and I tried the Pyruvate. I liked it okay, if you take it as directed and stay active it works pretty well but it takes some time to notice the effects.

Well, shit. I imagine that if I just workout and eat right, I'll notice the difference! Will this stuff help even more? I'm taking CLA, and a multi-vitamin too.

This stuff just might be pseudoscientific crap after all:
    http://www.williamsukala.com/article...eview_1997.htm

I havn't done all the research, but they've done a decent job debunking some of the claims.

Summary: they only found subjects lost an extra 2-4 lbs. when taking Pyruvate versus placebo. And the subjects were obese, didn't excercise, and were taking massive amounts of the stuff. This does not translate to efficacy for a person like me, or many of the posters here. However, all I would like to do is get that extra 2-3 lbs off....

Since I'm bumping, anyone else have any experience with Pyruvate?

I love that stuff for cardio only though. I would take 5-6 of them but right before I would do cardio. About 15 min later it felt like my feet just ran away and I was on FI-YA! It helped me do cardio longer, faster and harder. Not so good thing is that pounding 6 horse pills at one time was hard but worth it. There were no heart racing feeling or dizziness or jitters. Its a good supplement.

Another...yea its from a website but it gives a less complicated short version.

"Also shown to increase endurance...ideal for those who work out! How Does Calcium Pyruvate Work? Calcium pyruvate is a carbohydrate, and it is found naturally in red apples, cheese and red wine. Research has found this supplement may accelerate fat loss by increasing cellular respiration—the amount of energy the mitochondria uses. A study was done at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine involving 14 obese women (average weight 256 pounds), who were fed a 1,000-calorie liquid diet for three weeks. Half of these women were also given 36 grams of pyruvate daily. At the end of the study, these women experienced increased fat loss by up to 48%. This supplement may also support endurance, and this is important for athletes when it comes to attaining goals…plus, calcium pyruvate does not cause nervousness or the jitters, as it is stimulant-free. NSI Calcium Pyruvate is better because it:Is a standardized form, so you are ensured the most effective dosageMay be helpful in your workout program, since it promotes muscle growth and strength" -

36 grams a day? That would be 36 of my pills, whoa!
And what does the 48% mean? Up to 48% of 13 women lost weight? They lost 48% more fat than they originally intended? The study group lost 48% more weight than placebo group? Its confusing.

Also, no way am I doing 1,000 calorie liquid diet, nor am I obese. And 14 individuals is not statistically significant.

However, I am going to pop a couple tomorrow before my training session and see if I have extra energy.

It just increases cellular respiration. It works on a cellular level turning your fat burning wheels faster is all. Oh gosh was no way suggesting to follow such a study. However as I re-read it anyone can loose weight on 1,000 day liquid diet. Anyways, I'll just say I've used it and it works awesome but only worked well for me when I took 5-6 pills right before cardio.

A girl at work had recommenced me to take the pyruate that way and she's very fit and always has been since I've worked there.
