Overall..men. They still hold the power in this county..right or wrong..and make the laws to suit THEM. And too many of those laws ONLY affect women adversely.

Plus the whole 70 cents to the dollar thing we deal with,,,,

I don't know. I've never been a man. I know how hard it is for me. I will never know the finer details of what's hard for them. (Edit: lol!!)

I'm going to assume we're equal, just because it works for me.

    Definitely women.

    1) We have absolutely no problems getting laid.

    2) We can make buttloads of money working as strippers.

    3) The female body is absolutely beautiful-much more than a male's, imo.

    4) We can get pretty much ANYTHING we want by flirting a bit, batting our eyelashes or showing our cleavage with a sweet smile on our faces. This can mean anything from never having to pay for drinks when we go out, special attention at auto parts stores where the men will find the parts and even put them in for you.

We can get out of tickets pretty easily, it's socially acceptable to not work at all and be a stay at home mom (if that's your kinda thing), we create human life on this planet-(well, with the help of men of course) but the lil' ones grow and develop in our bodies-which is pretty amazing.

I'm sure there's a lot more, but I can't think of any right now..

My first thought was to say globally: men, in the western world: women, but I really don't know. I'd need to live as a woman before I could ever know instead of just guessing whether it hurts this much to be female.

Geez, that's a challenging one. I'll just list pros for each one and see where I get..

I think sexually, men have it easier in a lot of ways. They can go out and get as much ass as they want and not worry about getting a name for it plus the more they get the more clout they get it seems. Men don't get judged as much for speaking their minds. If they sling a few f bombs around then people don't look at them twice for it.

As far as upkeep goes they definately have it easier. We have a lot more maintenance then they do. I think we all understand this without me elaborating on it.

It's more acceptable for men to go out alone not just for safety reasons but women are more social creatures then men.

    On the other hand...

It is a lot easier for us to use our bodies to get what we want which is obvious with dancing. That being said, the mind has to be able to utilize the body. Some women aren't even aware of what they have or how to use it in the appropriate setting.

I think society in general gives women more of "break" from wrong doings and crime.

We aren't usually expected to take the "breadwinner" roles in a family situation, unfornuately, there are less and less familys to be had these days so we are forced to if we want to survive.

Just some thoughts off the top of my head, I am sure I'll think of more when I am a little more awake.

Women get attacked a whole lot more. We get raped way more than men. We suffer from distorted body image way more than men. We deal with way more sexist crap in a week than most men will in their entire lifetimes.

I'm going to say men have in easier, in terms of safety and various social/societal issues. I don't think men and women have perfect equality at all, and it does piss me off a little when people equate some progress with total elimination of all inequalities/injustices.

    Seriously: in what country?

In the U.S. men make up ~82% of the victims of all violent crimes. Yes, they also make up like 98+% percent of the attackers, but we are also waaaaaaaaay more likely to be the victim of a violent crime. Despite what Disney and Lifetime may project as reality, the vast majority of violence in America is 18-24 year old urban males attacking 18-24 year old urban males.

For rapes, women make up the vast majority of the victims.

For carjackings and armed robeery, men and women are equally victimized.

For all other violent crimes (assault, murder, etc.) men are far more likely to be the victim.

we get periods. we bleed from our vaginas every fucking month. next time some guy can say that his underwear looks like roman polanski's house once a month, he can complain about having it hard.

    game set match.

I'd love to see a man bleed for 7 days and not think he was dying.

Not to mention how much I'd love to see a man shit out a 10lb. watermelon and see how he feels.

Men have it easier...but they are sissy's. A man with the flu will lat on the couch and act like he is at death's door. A woman will take some Motrin, suck it up and carry on with her life.

I wouldn't trade places with them either tho...Women are more beautiful...I like feeling pretty, and I enjoy the perks that go along with that....

But... but.. I want MORE! I don't really see it as us getting "anything" we want by being sexy. True, We can get a lot of stuff from guys who are sexually attracted to us and all that. But we still need to work (hard!) for things that can't be bartered for with sexuality.

I don't think either sex has it easy, btw.

    I'd have to say men.

All the responses seem to point to men having actual power, and women just being able to dangle their vaginas in front of men to manipulate them. Women have periods (oy vey), and face way more discrimination and violations upon their safety than men IMO.

Neither. Life isn't easy no matter what gender you happen to be. Also, unless you've spent time in the actual bodies and minds of several members of each sex, how would you know?

I think that the ease or otherwise of one's existence primarily boils down to economics rather than gender, though obviously economic advantage doesn't always protect against disadvantage in other areas.

In the world of work, I think men get the better deal. In the world of relationships - in the west at least - women do.

I think that this discussion is skewed by age. The readership of this site will be able to get pretty much anything if it wants to - as mentioned above by flirting and eye lash fluttering.

Most guys of the same age are yet to mature and couldn't get a damn thing in the same way from a woman. I know I couldn't. By the time men have matured enough to have similar results, an equally aged woman will no longer be a dancer wielding the same power.

For me at least, the female form can be a beautiful thing - the male form can't really keep up.

    I'd say its rather equal.

For everyone that talks about either sex getting the better deal, they are certainly narrowing their criteria to make that specific point. In another criteria it could very easily go the other way.

We can get as specific as we want on this subject, I still believe in the end it equals itself out when the entirety of the question is considered.

That is a tough one, and overall it's subjective. But I would say overall men have it easier.

I would say that now-a-days, men often use their bodies and charms to manipulate women. We all know strippers who are supporting unemployed boyfriends. I also have met several younger guys who manipulated older divorced women, housewives and even professional women. Doing a young guy for some older women makes them feel young and attractive again. These guys often get cash, gifts, and housing from women without much as lifting a finger.

Women are still the defacto child barers and raisers. Many men simply walk out on a pregnant woman and with divorce, women often get primary custody, and even within marriage women often do the brunt of child raising.

And even though women go to college now more then men, men, particularly white men, are often in positions of power more. IE Owners of business and managers.

I agree with lestat that most women outside the west are treated like crap.

Yes, BEAUTIFUL YOUNG WOMEN do have it easier...to an extent. And sadly, misoginists gauge their hadred of women on that. However, once a woman ages and loses that mystique, she needs to be a part of the real world, and deal with the same problems. Not to mention women who aren't sexy to begin with.....

I think this is a stupid, immature debate. There is just no way for our emotions to not get in the way. I want to say men have it easier, but its not always the case.
