    Default Canberra

    Heyo,

Anyone have any information on the Sinsations club in Canberra? I'm not out to make a ton of $$, but Canberra is the only state I won't have been in by the end of the year! I have to change that! So I plan on staying for two weeks. Any info on tip-out, dance prices, hustle type, potential, stage sets, etc.?

I worked there about 4 years ago, pretty small club but a lot of government workers and military guys who come in. Usually not a lot of girls and pretty friendly environment.

Dances were $25 a song and $5 of that was a 'security' fee which you gave to the bouncer after the dance. Often guys would have a few songs in a row.

Stages were 3 songs and you got to pick your music. $5 tips during your set in which you would take of an item of clothing per tip and give the guy some attention. I had a friend who would make $300 a night on stage alone!

Overall a pretty relaxed environment with earning potential. Not in the thousands but certainly a couple of hundred + each night.

That all sounds good to me. Canberra is small so it probably stayed the same over the last four years, hahaha. Note to self: wear layers.

Hee hee your probably right on that one!

Also, the club is on the outskirts of town so if you don't have a car you might want to find accom close. There is a hotel chain just down the road but I totally can't remember which one it is! Hotel (insert number here), there are a few across Aus.

I think Canberra is a love or hate kinda place, personally I kinda liked it!

Well I already have accommodation all set-up. I'm going to visit a very good friend. I don't know where exactly he lives and if he'll drive me (probably will) though. Was there any minimum hours or scheduling?

Sweet! You'll be fine then. If you don't have to worry about paying for accom than you will be more relaxed at work.

No minimum days but you start at open and leave at close ... They used to open round 8-9pm and go through anywhere from 2-5am.

How funny that is where I first started my career as a dancer. This club Sinsations is tiny. Like a box. It used to be bigger until they shut down and closed off the rest when it reopened. i wouldn't bother unless you have a car. I can imagine it hasn't changed much in the years. Go to Sydney or Melbourne bigger and better clubs. Canberra has a population of about 332,056 (2006 Census). So if you are waliking down the street they will know you from Sinsations. UGH!! Sydneys poplation 4,297,100 go there!!

I... don't want to go to Sydney or I'd have asked about Sydney?

I want to visit a friend in Canberra and work while I'm there. I don't care if people recognize me, really. I just really want to visit someone.

    Thumbs up Re: Canberra

Plus there are more than enough dancers in Sydney and Melbourne Nicolette Di Maggio that you don't need to keep plugging it to everyone on the board. It isn't like either city is "short" of dancers.. if anything they have more than enough incl. "outside" girls. *roll eyes*

Yeah, don't expect alot from Sinsations as it is a rather small club (for all reports).

It is why I never really ever went down there for Summernats. The club couldn't be bothered opening outside of its usual hours so one could really profit from the event. Summernats is THE most popular time for that club and it can hardly fit everyone (dancers + patrons) at that

In re your comment about "ACT being the only state you havn't been to this year" ... did you actually end up making it down to Victoria? I thought you cancelled that trip?

so if your stop-over counts then my only having been to sydney via its international airport counts and thus i have actually visited sydney just not outside of the international airport
