Default Replacing one meal with yogurt

I'm too lazy to look up the most recent information about the benefits of yogurt. My question is this: What's been your experience with yogurt? I'm thinking of replacing my weekday lunches with yogurt (what's a good brand?).

I'm a big fan of Activa by Danone (not sure if Canadians have different dairy products though). It's tasty and has good probiotics. I can't digest much dairy, but this yogurt is good for my IBS symptoms. I usually eat a small cup with a piece of fruit for a light meal.

I like Stoneyfield Farms yogurt. It's a reasonably priced organic brand.

I'm not picky about brands, but I like to mix mine with sliced almonds...yum

Seconding the Stoneyfield Farms. Or Brown Cow. I've found it's not filling enough for lunch though-needs some granola or fruit or something nearby.

Had some yogurt (Dannon?) with "Fruit on the bottom" plus one of those snack-sized cottage cheese packets. And a diet Coke. Total: 275 calories. I don't feel hungry. And if I do get the munchies later, I've still got three of these cottage cheese packs left.

That's a lot of dairy. It could cause a digestive issue. Once I tried to lose weight and was having a latte for breakfast and a yogurt for lunch and a latte for a snack, and it did baaaad things to my tummy. I had to run to the bathroom every 10 min at work (day job as an accountant).
Be careful, you don' t want to have too much dairy without other foods mixed in.

I love, love, love greek yogurt with a bit of honey and walnuts mixed in. I think the brand is Fage that I get at Whole Foods.

I hate yogurt. I really wish I liked it, and sometimes I buy some and make myself eat it for awhile to try and learn to like it, but I really don't. It's that cold clammy feeling I hate. I'm all about texture and the texture of yogurt just grosses me out.

I couldn't replace my lunch with anything that small anyway. I tend to function best when lunch is my biggest meal of the day. I'll have a light breakfast - a bowl of grits or a muffin with hummus or a Slim-Fast shake - and then a reasonably big lunch, and then for dinner a salad or a bowl of soup. If I only had 200 calories for lunch, I'd sleep through the rest of the day.

So far, so good. It's 3:00 and no hunger pangs. What'll be interesting is hitting the gym tonight. I'm sure I'll need something ahead of that.

As for big meals--I tend to eat the most at night. Yes, bad, I know. But I can--and have--consume an entire roast chicken and a mess o' pasta at dinner time.

mmmmmmmmm me too except I make my own fake greek yogurt at home by draining the plain stoneyfields for a couple of hours. It is so delicious with honey and makes a great sour cream substitute without.

I'll have to try that....the closest Whole Foods is an hour away and I can only get up there once or twice a month.

I would vary it some more than that. You can overkill yourself on one food- why not have yogurt one day, some fruit the next, then some veggies or oatmeal... variety ensures that you're getting all the nutrients you need and is a basic for a healthy diet. Also, make sure that since you're cutting your lunch down so much, that you get enough calories for the day!

A yogurt a day sounds good to me. Gotta love that acidophilus. If you can eat plain, it's so much better for you. Check the amount of sugar on the nutritional guide, because the flavored ones are loaded with sugar.

I gobble 3 big tablespoons of it every morning to get my digestive sysyem ready for its daily barrage of coffee and cigarettes. Plus, it helps my vitamins go down smoother. AND, I'm kind of acidic down there, or maybe its alkaline? Whatever it is, my vag ph isn't always at the perfect level. And theoretically yogurt is good for that. My Gyn nurse explained it and that was adequate. Something about wiping...

But I don't really like it, and it doesn't suppress my appetite too long.
