    Default RAVE: Airbrush Tanning

I am addicted and will never go to a tanning bed ever again.
I LOVE being tan -year round, and for too many years I have been to tanning beds and wanted to try something that would not be harmful to my skin, so I did the airbrush.
This Friday, I will be going for my third airbrush tanning appoinment. What I love about this is that the tan looks pretty natural. I am sure it is different with different sking types but I have managed to achieve a nice natural looking golden-brown tan as opposed to the streaky orange mess I got with Mystic Tan.
My airbrush lady uses a product called "Sun FX," and I love the way it looks. It comes in 3 different shades and just looks phenomenal. I go with the second shade and I look the way I would look if I did like..10 tanning sessions. I pay $40 for each session, and I have been doing it once a week. I prolong the color by using a TON of lotion in between appointments and by shaving minimally. No more tanning beds for me!
(heheh this sounds like a commercial)..but for those looking to salvage their skin like I was, I figured it might be useful info.

I do want to try it, but it's just hard to justify the money when I can give myself a pretty good self tan at home a few dozen times for under $10. I may get one before a photo shoot and see what I think.

I always wanted to try it but I'm scared to have it come of on my sheets, my friend had it done when she was visiting and it was all over the sheets, and I'm not talking about the first night. She got a high quality one too. How is it for you? Do you have it come of on your sheets and clothes? I'm tired of tanning, I only go once every 1-2 weeks but I get so many freckles from it.

I've been really curious about this too. My biggest concern is my stretch marks. Most tanners that I use will not work on them (they are the white one, sort of deep) so I wind up with a tan stomache and even whiter stretch marks! Yuck!

Have any of you girls had any experience with this and the air brush tanning?

I tried some fancy pants airbrush tanning that claimed to have all sorts of good for your skin benefits besides. It looked fabulous but I've had IDENTICAL results from using the L'oreal Sublime Bronze spray stuff and getting a little help spraying my backside. Airbrush tanning started to come off in a few days and was totally not worth the money unless I only wanted it for a day or two instead of the 2 weeks they promised.(like $40 when it was on sale, usually like $75, but this is Orange County). The L'oreal crap wasn't orange and lasted longer than the expensive stuff. I bought a package of two airbrush tans because it was on sale and I'm not even going back for the second one since I like L'oreal better. If any pale goddesses in OC want to try it perhaps I can transfer the second one into your name. I'd hate to waste it and maybe you'll have better results.

I pay about $20 a spray and also love it. It looks very natural and way more tan that I could/would ever get in the sun or tanning bed. I don't leave the house without sunscreen, it's just not worth it.

Sorry Hun, but the color will never change with stretch marks. It is actually scarring. They will only slightly diminish over time.

Yep, I LOVE airbrush too.. The place I went to used "Fantasy Tan" stuff... It looks really natural and lasts surprisingly long. After about 10 days I'd say, you start noticing that ugly patchy/peeling effect so it's time to exfoliate the leftover tan off... But I decided to stop tanning in beds too, and this method is amazing for giving you an all-over real looking tan!! I only use it when I'm feeling rich though because it's like 45 bucks a pop for me!

Oh, yes, I know the stretch marks will never tan or change color themselves...but what I meant was, does the air brush tan stuff adhere to the stretch marks very well. For example, if I tan my tummy, will it look uniform?

I did the mystic tan a few times, and the crap never took hold on the stretch marks, which made my tummy look even worse ofcourse!

Erika, it definitely does get all over whatever you wear for that day and your sheets. Still, me personally, I'd rather have the damage on my sheets than my skin

I have the same problem only they are on my inner thighs. I hate those stretch marks! I don't think any of the tanners will work on them because they change the color of your skin but the stretch marks are not the same and don't absorb anything.

Yes you are right I guess i can always buy some dark brown sheets, I love to look tan all the time, I mean not super dark but healthy tan, I cut down to once every 2 weeks now but I do it all year round, i know my skin will suffer, its still very soft and young looking but I get those damn freckles more and more all over my body and now if i get pale they look so bad. So I will have to try the airbrush tanning, been thinking about that for a long time, and I dont tan my face for the past 3-4 years, i use self tanner every few days so i guess i can get used to it all over the body.

How is the smell tho? Can you smell it on you after the first day?

It does have a smell, but it is nothing like mystic. I asked my boyfriend what he thought it smelled like, and he said "earth," so whatever that means. Honestly though, the smell is not overpowering at all though. He could only smell it when I put my arm right next to his face.

Gah! How irritating! K, so you know the ones I am talking about though, and they never ever color evenly.

    It stinks.
