I was just on the phone with my ex discussing his belief in 2012 when I came across this thread.

Just looking for my daily stripper drama and.... BAM ....a thread on what I'm talking about on the phone. I'm not sure if I believe it but I love that Rush album too, partly because I think Geddy Lee is a fox!

    Synchronicity perhaps?

Some believe that we are ascending to the 5th dimension. That way some peoples dreams are getting more vivid, some are now having psychic ablilities or telepathy. Last night at work I while I was giving a lapdance in VIP I had a feeling of vomit. I was like why am I feeling this! An hour later I went back in VIP room with a different guy and he sat in puke!!!!! Thank God he sat down first!

Hmm.. the youtube clip looks like it was done by a first year film student on peyote. But I digress...

For the record, I don't belive in 2012. I think we are going to have a similar incident as Y2K.. which is absolutely nothing.

    And I absolutely adore Rush.

From what I read, the calendar just rolls over on that date, just the way our calendar rolled over digits at the end of 1999, and of course, millions thought something mystical would happen, and guess what... nothing happened. There are many calendar systems in the world, and any kind of calendar system is likely to have cycles of some sort. I read a book a long time ago by Daniel J. Boorstein called "The Discoverers". If I recall correctly much of the beginning of the book was about how various societies invented various calendars and why.

They have the most accurate calendar that ever existed. We still use it today in every culture. They studied the stars for over 5,000 yrs! They predicted every lunar and solar eclipse. They were also known as the keepers of time. They even prophesied the end of their own civilization when the Catholic Spaniards destroyed their documents and their people.

That may be true, however it's important not to use one set of facts to give validity to another completely unrelated set of facts. It's reasonable to say it's fact that the Mayan calendar is very accurate. By the way, and this important, none of us, not you, not the producers of the video, nobody today gets to claim credit for that. Just because the Mayan's earned some respect for their magnificent calendar, it doesn't follow that those who refer to it and draw additional conclusions inherit that respect. What is contentious is what the end of the cycle at 2012 means. Since many scholars argue it's just another cycle point, that means the end of one era and the beginning of another; which is akin to saying that 1999 ended one millenium and begins another.

Look at it like this. So far we've seen the planets and stars spin in cycles (e.g., spin of one day, spin of one earth year, spin of one jupiter year, etc.) happen over and over and over, and while we can build a calendar that is correlated to those cyclic events, absolutely NOTHING so far has indicated that something magical is going to happen when a cycle repeats, because cycles repeat all the time, and so far nothing magical has happened.

What is contentious is that people that are not the Mayans, that don't have even a tiny fraction of their understanding of their calendar, how it works, or the intelligence and time spent making it, are predicting the end of the world. They don't earn respect with me just because the Mayan's did.

So here is the thing... when 2012 passes, in 2013, when you are sitting there and it's just like it was on 1/1/2000 and nothing happened, please remember this thread, and remember how you let yourself be dupped into believing in something magical and mystical, not because there are any facts to back it up, because you wanted to believe in something magical and mystical. That's my prediction of how it will go down. It will be settled in about 6 years for sure.

p.s. that someone somewhere called them "The keepers of time" means absolutely nothing to me. People who are infatuated with mysticism can get away with this because it impresses people who are impressed by mysticism. Me, the only thing I care about is their calendar is accurate. That doesn't meant because the calendar is accurate that EVERYTHING they believe is truth. Nor does it mean that some magical being appointed them to keep time. It just means their good scientists observed, did the math, and figured out something about the observable universe.

That is the year my Stepson graduates from high school, so certainly something magical will happen...Going away to University! Whoo-Hoo!

I think every parent looks forward to that day with anticipation and a bit of dread as well.

Magnetic polar shift? Eh, it doesn't happen all at once. It will flip flop a few times before it settles. National Geographic had a great documentary about the magnetic polar shift. Scientists don't think anything in the way of natural disasters will take place, but you won't be able to navigate via the compass points for a while (luckily we have GPS that is independent of the compass points). Scientists expect it will take 30-90 days to complete the shift.

The current accepted theory on the dinosaurs is that a HUGE asteroid or meteor hit the gulf of Mexico causing tsunamis and something like a nuclear winter. That is why they died so fast. Not a polar shift.

Are we talking about geomagnetic pole reversal? The planet's polarity has shifted many, many times. In terms of dinosaurs, the last Mesozoic shift occurred in the Cretaceous, millions of years prior to the extinction of the dinosaurs. Up to present time, the latest one occurred about 700,000 years ago. For all I know, we're due for another. But it won't be the end of the world. It never is.

    1. Humanity and Planet Earth are currently going through a huge change or shift in consciousness and reality perception.

    2. The Mayan civilization of Central America was and is the most advanced in relation to time-science knowledge. Their main calendar is the most accurate on the planet. It has never erred. They actually have 22 calendars in total, covering the many timing cycles in the Universe and Solar System. Some of these calendars are yet to be revealed.

    3. The Mayan fifth world finished in 1987. The sixth world starts in 2012. So we are currently "between worlds". This time is called the "Apocalypse" or revealing. This means the real truth will be revealed. It is also the time for us to work through "our stuff" individually and collectively.

    4. The Mayan sixth world is actually blank. This means it is up to us, as co-creators, to start creating the new world and civilization we want now.

    5. The Mayans also say that by 2012-
    - we will have gone beyond technology as we know it.
    - we will have gone beyond time and money.
    - we will have entered the fifth dimension after passing through the fourth dimension
    - Planet Earth and the Solar System will come into galactic synchronization with the rest of the Universe.
    - Our DNA will be "upgraded" (or reprogrammed) from the centre of our galaxy. (Hunab Ku)
"Everbody on this planet is mutating. Some are more conscious of it than others. But everyone is doing it" - Extraterrestrial Earth Mission.

    6. In 2012 the plane of our Solar System will line up exactly with the plane of our Galaxy, the Milky Way. This cycle has taken 26,000 years to complete. Virgil Armstrong also says that two other galaxies will line up with ours at the same time. A cosmic event!

    7. Time is actually speeding up (or collapsing). For thousands of years the Schumann Resonance or pulse (heartbeat) of Earth has been 7.83 cycles per second, The military have used this as a very reliable reference. However, since 1980 this resonance has been slowly rising. It is now over 12 cycles per second! This mean there is the equalivant of less than 16 hours per day instead of the old 24 hours. Another intrepetation is - we, or rather Consciousness have been down this same road seven times before over the last 16 billion years. Each of these cycles of Creation runs 20 times faster than the last one. The same amount of Creation is paced 20 times tighter. This is why time seems to be going so fast. It is not "time" but Creation itself that is accelerating. (see Mayan Calendar Central)

    8. During the Apocalypse or the time "between worlds" many people will be going through many personal changes. The changes will be many and varied. It is all part of what we came here to learn or experience. Examples of change could be- relationships coming to an end, change of residence or location, change of job or work, shift in attitude or thinking etc.

    9. Remember, in any given moment we are making small and large decisions. Each decision is based on LOVE or FEAR. Choose love, follow your intuition, not intellect and follow your passion or "burning inner desire." Go with the flow.

    10. Thought forms are very important and affect our everyday life. We create our reality with thought forms. If we think negative thoughts of others this is what we attract. If we think positive thoughts we will attract positive people and events. So be aware of your thoughts and eliminate the unnecessary negative or judgemental ones.

    11. Be aware that most of the media is controlled by just a few. Use discernment! Look for the hidden agendas. Why is this information being presented to you? What is "their" real agenda? Is it a case of problem*reaction*solution? Do "they" create a problem so that "we" react and ask for a fix, then "they" offer their solution? The "solution is what "they" really wanted in the first place.

    12. Remember almost nothing happens by accident. Almost all "events" are planned by some agency or other. Despite this, it is a very exciting time to be alive!

The truth shall set you free!

It's an exciting time. The planet is warming, we have a space station, we've got photographs from deep space that could've only been dreamed about 30 years ago, and we're about to see if there's really such a thing as the Higgs boson.

    But........

The solar system is tilted 60 degrees off the galactic equatorial plane. I do not believe, given the distances involved, that it'll line up in five years.

We're pretty close to the equatorial plane. Whether we'll actually be there in 2012, no idea.

Schumann Resonance has to do with waveguide cavitation due to lightning strikes. It is very useful in a number of studies, but not time. Cesium atomic clocks, which are extremely accurate, are not revealing a collapse of time.

I do not believe that the Mayans knew about DNA, its helical structure, genomes, or nucleotide chains.

But perhaps we'll see a big upset. I lived in California when it was supposed to fall into the ocean on a magical date. The Late Great Planet Earth had predicted a Soviet military invasion of Israel long before now. People were waiting for Rapture at Y2K. One of these may be right yet.

Just the pictures we are getting back from Hubble and a small tiny section of space is a mind blower. Great stuff indeed, although it's all due to a lot of hard and very time consuming science.

Been through those all myself. Eventually something could happen, and some predictions (even if they are nothing but guesses) could align with the guesses. Like gambling, sometimes someone guesses right.

Sweetie, the Mayans never said this. All of these theories were added over the course of the last 40 years. The people who are making these claims are not Mesoamerican archeologists or scientists. They are just sensationalistic authors without a shred of proof.

No one is debating the Mayan calender. It is true that the Mayan calender was more accurate than the one used by Romans in Julius Ceasar's era. But the only thing the Mayan calender does is end. Just like our calender ends on December 31st. The world doesn't end, we just start up again.

This statement is completely wrong. The Mayan civilization collapsed sometime in the 8th or 9th century C.E. Long before communication with the Spanish. If you want to be taken seriously, get your basic historical facts in order.

I actually find the study of pre-Columbian America to be absolutely fascinating. I think it's sad when the true triumphs of a people are degraded into magic and hocus pocus.

    YOU.

You wrote it out so I didn't have to!

And that video? Be ADVICED that this video may enlighten your CONSCIOUSNESS self? Spelling. Grammar. Gaah.
