Default "Alcohol reacts with my medication."

In my new club, which has alcohol, I prefer not to consume alcohol. One customer was awful pushy as to why, and I shut him up with the line in the subject. But then I thought about it. If someone asks, what medication reacts badly with alcohol? Curious, so I can have a back-up.

Ativan, an anti-anxiety medication apparently reacts badly with alcohol.

Edit: Or you could just tell them that it's none of their business....

When customers ask me why I'm not drinking, I just tell them it's because I'm driving.

um antihistimines do. and pretty much all pysch meds, although I won't tell a guy I was on them. It's really none of his business (even if it is made up).

Could you say you are training for a 5k or marathon, or weight training? This only works if you are very fit.

Easy! A friend of mine took a nurophen and then had some scotch (Chivas) ... and I then got a rather humourous text message from him informing me that he was as high as a kite due to this mixture

So just say you took a pain killer for a headache or sore neck or whatever.

Otherwise just say allergy medication. You don't need to be more specific than that....

most anti depressants do. But i think you should say "citalopram hydrobromide" for that extra little kick. Or a longer named drug if possible

I normally say antibiotics. Even though antibiotics function fine while you are on alcohol, alcohol could increase your body's natural healing time. Also it freaks out some guys to think that you may have something icky so they are less likely to ask for sex.

Any anti depressant, with my experience Effexor made me really crazy when I drank alcohol with it, not the same as xanax and valum which actually made me drunk faster and black out, Effexor just made me crazy when I would drink with it, lol. Out of all the anti depressants I have been on, I would recommend that one, I was on Zoloft the longest and it didn't effect me when I would drink on that.

I would say I have allergies and alcohol negativly affects the allergy medication.

I wouldn't say antidepressants or other pych drugs..and I wouldn't say antibiotics, cause I wouldn't want guys to think I had some infection, or even a cold. Ickyness does not equal sexy.

    Thanks guys!

And I wasn't planning on using Xanax/Valium/other popular poppers or antibiotics for that reason. Customer may assume I'm one of 'those' strippers or some chick with an infection. Allergy meds will do the trick.

And I know it's not his business, but it's a quick route around the 'why?' question.

I think that as far as the antidreppresants go it depends on the person. Both me and my sister took Zoloft at one point or another. The one time I combined it with alcohol it scared the shit out of me. While I was drinking it was a fairly normal drunk, afterwards tho.... I lived in a fuzzy mental haze for like 3 days. I felt really spaced out and disconnected -to the point that I actually wasn't able to function enough to do simple things. My sister however is what I would term an underage alcoholic and drank all the time while she was on zoloft, of course whether she could get more empty-headed than she already was is a matter open for debate....

My therapist told me the best way to turn down an alcoholic drink without getting into my medication or medical problems was just to assert myself. Just to say, no thanks over and over again and when they ask why, just keep saying "I just prefer not to" over and over again, but in a polite and friendly way.

Sometimes I tell people I used to be an alcoholic and have been inr ecovery for a few years now. That tends to get them to leave me alone about it.

I would just be honest and tell them that alcohol in any amount upsets my stomach. They'd always leave me alone after that.

I used to never drink when I worked. I would tell the guys that I was taking meds, and so couldn't drink. I told them Zoloft. Lots of guys don't know what that is, and it's a dead end conversation. They were like, "oh....."

OR I would actually tell them, "I don't drink when I"m working, but I appreciate the offer though." I was just being honest at the time. Don't know if it hurt my hustle, but I only got positive reactions from this. Hell, at least it made me stand out.

Or... you could say, I just had one, but thanks so much.

I don't see what the big deal is. Just say no thanks and if he asks why tell him you don't drink. I never drink at the club and hardly ever get questioned about it. But then, I also don't sit and sit and sit with guys at their table. If they don't want a dance I'm out of there in about two min.

If they are that insistent, its because they want a dirtier dance from a drunk girl, and will probably try to step over bounds. If you tell them "valium" or something that relaxes like alcohol, that might work. But you'll still be dealing with Mr. Grab Ass.

I tell them my seizure meds make my reactions to alcohol really bad and they normally drop it after that. It's the line I use on staff members, dancers, and customers alike. They don't need to know I am on psych meds, and I really do have seizures on occasion so it's not really a lie.

My new excuse, I just tell them that I have to blow in a Breathalyzer to be able to get my car and I'm already over the limit.

Works, cuz they think I'm already drunk!

You can say you're taking Zyban to help quit smoking. You can still smoke while taking Zyban, unlike with nicotine patches/gum, so even if you actually do smoke, it's not a problem. Zyban is the same thing as the anti-depressant Wellbutrin, which can definately cause problems with alcohol. Since Zyban is prescribed for smoking and not depression, it won't have the same stigma as an anti-depressant.

You could say you have an infection and the alcohol will cancel your antibiotics. LOL

But really, I now say I cannot digest sugar or starch, and since all booze has sugar in it, I can't drink. Shuts them right up. haha
Agreed with Kat that the ones who are really pushy about it are the assholes who want "dirty" from a drunk or drugged out girl - and they will be a pain in the ass during the dance. I'd rather not dance for guys who are that pushy, and will go somewhere else. Thankfully most customers are not such jerks

I usually relate it back to the Champ. Room and say I only drink if the customer wants to hang out for a couple hours in there... "so nobody can see me when I'm a sloppy slutty drunk".

Every so often it works, and we get the room (paid up front thanks).

And the potted plants in there would have died long ago if they weren't plastic.

    ^ Good one!!

Ya last night this group of young guys were buying shots/drinks left, right and center and were really pushy about me having a shot or drink. I kept telling them no because I was on a lot of Tylenol and supposedly that's a drug you shouldn't mix with alcohol (your liver can't process both of them at the same time I heard)... I ordered a diet Pepsi from the waitress and they all yelled out "Nooooooooo!" and wouldn't let me order that!! I was getting pretty pissed off cuz I kept telling them I'd normally love a drink but I am on medication .. Anyways, you're right about them wanting you to be the dirty stripper cuz the guy me and my friend ended up going with wouldn't stop asking about "Extras" and whining about how other girls will do anything for money in Montreal and stuff..
Anyways I understand if they just want you to be having fun drinking with them so you're not the only one left out, but repeatedly insisting you have to have a drink is just rude and annoying.
