    Default kitty litter

So I have a question for all the cat owners out there: which brand of kitty litter is best for two cats, one cat box?

I currentyly use Tidy Cats for Multiple cats.

One cat doesnt cover her shit or piss, and the other has some noxious piss that stinks up the whole bathroom and surrounding rooms and hallway and it doesnt clump. I also hate getting kitty litter all over the floor and having to sweep it up two times a day. I already have a covered kitty box, and that doesnt really seem to help with the scattering of litter everywhere.

    Any suggestions?

You should have at least one box per cat.

I like Feline Pine...covers smell great, biodegradable and flushable

We switched to the pine stuff, and it's awesome and cheap too. They still track a little bit out, but it's easy to clean up. The crystal stuff is like little jagged shards of glass when you're barefoot.

Does that pine stuff smell like pine and cat piss? My cat doesn't cover his turds. I've been using world's best cat liter. http://www.worldsbestcatlitter.com/ I'm considering switching. I can't go around covering his turds.

I started buying the crystal litter, and I haven't smelled anythign since. I admit to not cleanign it nearly as often as I should, but I never smell it. I have 2 cats, 1 box...I've tried using 2 boxes, but they will only go in 1, so I just got rid of the second box.
The only downside to the crystal litter is how dusty it is. One of my cats has allergies, and the dust gets to her, so I hate to use it...but it seems to work the best. I've tried tons of different brands.

I think I use the Arm and Hammer Clumping Kind for Multiple cats. Those kitten sure are poop machines! My big cat goes outside. But I really should clean the kitten's litter every other day. Otherwise it fills with poo!

We use some kind of clumping litter, either Tidy Cats or Arm & Hammer, whatever's on sale. Buddy's not picky, thank goodness. But it's got to be the clumping kind. We just make a point of scooping all the clumps into the bag when we take out the trash every couple of days.

Hmmm, I want an automatic litter cleaner! But I'm thinking of just letting the kittens go outside when they are old enough....

Or maybe I can teach them how to use the toilet?

my friend has one she paid like $150 for it and you have to buy a certian(spendy) litter for it to work good and even then the "rake thingy" that scoops the poop gets grody fast coz it scoops to fast it dont let the poop get firm and ugh its just gross. do you wanna scrub a 15 inch comb caked with poop every 2-3 days. not me i rather buy a cheapy $2 litter box and if it get to ick ick i throw it out know big deal

Does that pine stuff track really bad? Or start smelling like a hamster's cage (pine and piss)?

LOL! I use this, too, Katrine. My poor Kitty, I don't clean her box as often as I should.

I use the all crystal type. Not the kind that is mixed with the regular old style litter but the kind that is all that crystal stuff. I think it's by far the best litter ever. One cat, one month isn't just the ad it's the truth

I had the same experience. The whole thing was a big waste of $, imho.

and believe me when i say i have tried EVERYTHING out on the market !

This was THE best litter around for a two cat household and one litter box/tray.

Ultimately you need two litter boxes/trays yet I totally understand if you can only have one as I had one between two cats for a long time.

Pellet-ed kitty litter! HIGHLY recommend it. Easy to clean, easy to dispose of, and does keep the odour at bay (minimises it).

Whoah....just wanted to say, I had a cat die from clumping kitty litter. Mystery death and then started looking up links online.

I'm pretty convinced the crystals are just as bad for them.

I use the one you don't like (Tidy Cats multiple cats) and have known good things about the pine/cedar chips...but I've always found them to REEK of urine + pine.

What about Old Mews? The recycled newspaper one...anyone ever use that? I read also that they "don't like it" but at least I know it ain't toxic.
