My mom said her and dad were going to try to surprise R and I, but she ended up telling me over the phone. While she was at the vet she paid them the extra $50 to have Dakota's ashes returned to us so we could always have him. I was so grateful I burst into tears all over again.

CF, I am so sorry that you lost Dakota. It is hard for us to lose a pet because they love us so unconditionally. May God comfort you in your sorrow.

I'm so sorry CF. It's agonizing to lose your baby.

I'm glad you got his ashes back though. When GCG lost her cat, I gave her an idea to put the ashes in something, like a teddy bear. And, since you lost your BuddyBear, it seems fitting.

This way, you can hug him anytime you want.

    Hugs to you.

oh corsica I am so sorry!!!!! I know how hard that is- my condolences and sympathies to you!!!! that SUCKS. Losing a pet that has been by your side for that long is no different than losing a best friend... Hell, Embyr died 3/4 months ago and I can't look at a pic without bawling. Grief sucks. We're here for you.... you will get through this.

Oh CF! I am so sorry! I have two kids, one two legged, and one four legged, and I love them both so very much! Losing my dog would be...uh, I can't even imagine. I think the idea of putting th ashes into something tangible is a great idea. This may sound silly, but I went to build-a-bear workshop when I got my dog, and made a mini version of my doggy. What about doing something like that and you could put his ashes in before they sew it together?

And keep your head up about you and R, like someone else said, we each deal with grief in our own way....

    I have one word: Bibs

So I can totally utterly empthaise. The grief is still with me and I have my moments.

She was a really special animal in my life. I miss her terribly.

Oh damn. I shouldn't have opened this thread...

So .. hell yeah.. I empathise. You have my condolences.

I'm losing it. I think I'm OK, but the smallest things tear me apart and leave me in a bawling mess.

About a half an hour ago I went to go look at the clay paw the vet molded for me of Dakota's paw print and when it wasn't where I left it, I freaked out, started shaking, and screamed at R "Where is it?!". He had just moved it, but I just started bawling.

Then I just went to feed the dogs and I picked up Dakota's food bowl and started bawling AGAIN.
