    Default Getting reported by motorists?

Today i was on the freeway in my friend's Toyota Celica and we got cut off by some mofo in a Scion TC. My friend retaliated by driving on the shoulder for about 10 seconds and mean mugged the dude in the TC, finally cutting him off. After that we went back in the fast lane and saw the motorists beside us "appearing to write down our license plate"...my question is do you guys think anything will happen to my friend? Who are they supposedly gonna report him to?
    Thanks for any input.

Quit driving like a douche and trying to "retaliate". Idiots.

    Um, the cops?

I know I have written down the license plates of reckless drivers and called them in before, and usually the police (my boyfriend is a cop) are happy to follow up on it.

I mean, that's how a huge chunk of drunk drivers are caught, because another motorist saw them swerving and called the police. Yes, your friend can get in some trouble.

Seriously. Good job on being a complete dumbass and endangering other people. I hope to hell your friend gets caught, if he is so immature he has to 'retaliate', he shouldn't have a driver's license.

    /end rant.

seriously? youre acting like you guys werent wrong? and why, may i ask, does it matter what kind of cars they were? you say it like theyre competing cars. the scion basically IS a celica, scion is a part of toyota and it is practically the same car. they stopped making celicas and now they make the tc. im not sure why you chose to add that information. it kinda sounds like youre saying 'oh i was driving along in my porsche and a pathetic little ford cut me off so i had the right to do it back.'

I agree with everyone else who has posted already. I hope you and all your so-called-friends stop driving like you all are hot shots in a movie. It's real life, buddy.

I also noticed like Britt did how you think it's important what car you were in vs. the other person. I don't give a shit. The person cut you guys off for whatever reason (was it rush hour?? maybe they were in a hurry to get off at the next exit and the closest available opening was right in front of you??) and you guys with your road rage decided to drive on the freaking shoulder?! to try and get back at them??

Who are they going to report him to? Are you serious? You didn't know the answer to that?

I posted this on 2 of my other car forums (hence make and model of vehicle)
Porshe and Ford are not even on the same level
Scion tc and celica...same class...why you gotta trip? And where in my post did i say i say "were competing".....i thought you would appreciate the added detail.

P.S. I know Scion is made by Toyota, i also know they stopped making Celicas.

Road rage and acting like a "hot shot" are 2 different things...
*Road rage: lashing out in rage cause someone made a mistake (they are at fault)
*Hot shot: Some 16 year old kid who just got his license thinking hes all bad cause he can drive...woopty doo and/or punks in their little rice rockets, douches in Beamers, and white boys in "american muscle" (not all of them...the "hot shots")

Because both cars aren't exactly badass rides.

Heck, most people driving a Scion TC are girls in high school who got them for their 16th birthday from daddy.

Seriously, neither car is exactly brag-worthy, and either is acting like an ass "retaliating". You need to grow up. Unless you are, in fact, a 16 year old girl cruising in your Scion...but still, act mature.

i just dont understand the point of posting that "extra detail." but whatever... and i didnt say they were on the same level. i was just asking why you felt it necessary to add that information. and you answered me. end of story.

^Oh Britt, no offense! I didn't mean it was a bad thing!

I just meant I always crack up when these thug, Fast and the Furious wannabes are bragging about their "hot rides" and it's a Scion...

It's a perfectly nice car, but a legit drag racer would laugh his ass off at these wannabes.

In Oregon, citizens can issue traffic citations to the offending driver. All you need is the date/time/location and license number. There is a hot line that a citizen can call in to report traffic offenses and the driver is sent a subpoena to appear in court with the citizen acting on behalf of the people.

Traffic court here is fun and interesting.

If the person who is issued the citation is a no-show, then he/she is considered guilty and is fined and/or charged.

Oh, and the next time someone "wrongs" you on the road, just let it go. Two wrongs don't make a right!

D00d, I'm from Nor*Cal & I can tell you you're lucky you didn't get shot for doing that.

Traffic is also very heavy out there & you wouldn't want to hurt an innocent person through driving recklessly just to get back at someone on the road.

Be smart or you'll be a grease spot the CHP officers are laughing at.

Sheep, you actually thought it worthwhile to post the distinction? It's like saying you were shooting a Glock at the other car while it was driving through traffic, and then getting upset that someone pointing out the danger of it is confused about whther the pistol is German or Austrian.

Deal with the real issue: What's with deciding to try to cause an accident and get people killed? Why didn't you call the police on your friend for doing something that dangerous? He should be in jail for endangering all of those people.

To answer the question. I was reported by another driver as driving recklessly. We were on a 2 lane road and they were driving slow and everytime I went to pass they would speed up so I couldnt. When we were at a passing area they sped up so I couldnt pass and at double yellows slow down. This went on for about 30 minutes so at the next double yellow and I hit the gas, passed them and kept going. Yea, I was frustrated... it went on for a good 30 minutes driving 20 under the speed limit. They were just being road warriors. Those people irritate me the most. The ones going 65 in the fast lane even tho all the other traffic is going 75.... they make everyone pass so they can prove something? Ill never get it...

Anyway - back to the story...

The cops showed up and couldnt do anything. There is no proof. The only real way I could get in trouble would be to admit wrong doing because it ends up as my word against theirs. Needless to say nothing came of it.

Whether or not you can get a ticket for a citizen report is dependant upon your state, and in some cases, your district. In many places, as long as the citizen is willing to fill out a complete report, you're getting a ticket or more.
