Thumbs down Horse kick to the chest!

I am asking myself RIGHT now...why I still love my stupid horse. *shakes head*

Look at what she did to me yesterday! This shit hurts...see the hoofprint!?

I went into her stall and put my hand on her butt to shoo her over and put her food in there and WHAM...rear hoof to the chest. If she had been wearing a metal shoe, I would have busted ribs. I am glad that it didn't land on my head or break my leg!

Knocked the wind out of me, and scared me half to death...but no hospital worthy damage. Thank God.

I was planning to go back to work (my comeback) this weekend. Fuck. Now my bewbies are all bruised up and my sternum hurts. Thanks alot bitch.

I guess I just want to complain, there isn't anything I can do to make going to work this weekend happen. I just have to heal.

    OMg!!!

    That looks very painful.

I have to wonder why she kicked you tho....

A horse should know to NEVER kick or bite.

I've been kicked in the tummy....left a perfect hoofprint near my belly button...but that was by a 6 month old baby..she didn't know not to yet...and luckily she was so little it didn't hurt all that bad.

I was run over once....I was walkign through the field and a watermelon my mom was giving to someoen as a treat started to roll down the hill, and it scared one of the horses, and she ran me right over!

Sprained both my ankles. At the hospital, the asshole doctor said - Which one hurts worse? I'll wrap that one. Ugh.

Is she a Clydesdale? She has a big hoof.

Wasnt it you that had the Morgan who just had the baby?

Either way it sounds like something is agitating her and you need to work with her on her manners in the stall. No excuse is good enough for kicking you when you enter her stall. Every horse should be trained to stand quietly at feed time and whenever someone enters their stall. Something I made sure of when I was running the 200 horse training facility, no way in hell was I going to fight to feed 200 horses lol. (sorry im not trying to tell you how to handle your horse I know freak accidents happen but the way you worded it sounded like this isnt the first time)

I would watch the bruising very carefully. A kick to the chest can cause some serious damage even when shes barefoot. She kicked you in a very sensitive area. Take care of it and just keep a super close eye on it and asses the area you were kicked and around it. A kick the the chest can even cause damage lower down(speaking from personal experience).

I got run over by a horse once...It stepped on my leg, hand, and chest...I looked just like you! Hoof-mark bruises.

I don't know why she did it either...she must not have seen you for some reason and got startled? If she just had her foal recently, she's probably still full of protective hormones. Either way, bad girl! I've been kicked/ bitten by a few of mine, and i always go apeshit on them. I yell and then they get all quiet and guilty looking, like they forgot themselves.

Take care of yourself. Hopefully she'll know not to do this again. If you have trouble breathing, get it checked. Our sternums are very strong though...I think you'll be alright.

Holy fuck! Get checked out to be safe. You could have internal damage and not be aware of it.

She's not that big...my bewbies were bra-less so imagine them lower and closer together...I was kind of bending over a little when she kicked me.

I got her in February and she had just been a broodmare out to pasture for a long time. She came with some rear feet/butt handling issues. She is nervous being touched there and snatches her feet up when you touch them. We have made a LOT of progress with that though. Daily grooming and handling does wonders.

I think that since she has had the baby a mixture of hormones, becoming a food pig, and less handling all attributed to the kick.

I am much better today, hardly any soreness but sneezing or hiccuping sucks!!

NOW...I go in the stall with a whip and kiss to her to get her to go to the other side before I come in...she looks very sheepishly at me. I am sure she knows she hurt me.
