Default cherry red semi/demi permanent hair color

I've had this in streaks in my hair for a while (bleached the highlights first, then put the crazy red on)....

and um, it's supposed to wash out in 5-40 washes....uhh...it's been like 2 months and most of it is still going strong. The only part that washed out is the front near the roots where i touch my hair the most, for example when you run your hands through your hair to get it out of your face.

I want it to wash out, as I'm trying to go back to my natural color, the plan being to avoid anymore chemical damage to it by dying it again.

Anyone know how to get this stuff to wash out faster? Are there any oils or anything I can put on it that might help?

The reason it's lasting so long is because you bleached the streaks before dyeing it red. Bleached hair absorbs color better than natural hair.

Depending on how light the hair got when you bleached it, you might have no choice but to dye over it to get rid of that red. Do you go to a salon or do your hair yourself?

^^^ yes, the bleach is what damaged your hair, semi and demi permanent haircolors typically do not damage the hair at all- most professional demi's actually leave the hair in better condition. Depending on your natural color (or whatever color you're going for) you can tone out the red with a green demipermanent color (make sure to use it on the red areas only) then use an all over demi ithat's your natural color... this is assuming that the color you are trying to acheive is the same level/darkness of the red peices. If your desired color is lighter, go see a colorist.

In the meantime, try using a clarifying shampoo.

    i'll try the clarifying shampoo...

my best friend who is a professional make-up artist did it, she did a great job, but now it's time to just let my natural color grow back, which is actually blonde.

Give this a try Metalex by Clairol or Wella..Sally's carries it. It does wonders for removing color. It basically an oil & non damaging.

^^ THANK YOU! I will definately check that out...do you know if it will also do anything for permanent black? ...probably not I'd think, but it's worth asking.

It's funny that you ask that, I was going to post story about how I learned about Metalex...It should fade permanent black. My hair was accidentally died black, punk rocker harsh black, by my long time colorist. The Metalex helped me get my hair to a light brown color with one bottle..I say maybe use 2 depending on how much lighter you want to go..Like I said before it's only oil so it won't damage your hair.

Wash it with Dawn dish detergent and leave it in for two minutes then condition.
