Default Is the title 'regular' really an insult?

I've started to look at all the guys that get called 'regulars', at the SC I go to. They are not the high rollers out the back having fun and spending money, but the guys who get in before cover charge time and sip water whilst sitting at the edge of the stage just watching. No interaction with staff or dancers, just watching. All of them.
No more respect seems to be given to the (rarer) frequent flier that becomes exclusive property of one girl and spends away merrily, never heard a kind word about these guys from any of the other dancers in the club. Usually negative comments.
How do you girls feel about frequent customers in general? Losers and Perverts? Do you treat regulars (that aren't yours) with contempt? What about your own regulars, are you willing to have a regular that you really can't stand, just for the pay?

A regular IMO is a guy who regularly comes in to spend time and money on a dancer or several dancers.

What u seem to be referring to is a bar fly. Those guys are annoying because they dont give the dancers any money but usually expect conversation for free or to try to feel girls up without paying.

I treat my regulars and regulars of my friends with respect of course and I enjoy them being in the club. Even if it's another girls regular who only gives her money. it's always nice IMO to recognise a friendly face ITC because sometimes the environment can feel unfriendly. So often a regular is a comforting person ITC for the dancers and they will sit with them in between other customers.

Regulars are great IMO. Bar flys are not.

Some of the most effortlessly beautiful, kind, intelligent, successful, motivated, driven and ridiculously hilarious women that I have ever met have been dancers. I've met the best friends that I've ever had in this industry.

A regular of the club is different from a "regular". My regulars come in to see/spend on me.

there's club regulars and there's DANCER regulars.

    big diff

the club regulars are what you're describing. dancer regulars come in to spend money ..usually decent ammounts of money on a particular (or a couple particular) dancer(s)

Depends on the exact nature of a regular.

There are regular who get on with a girl ITC, and will pop in to see her on a frequent basis. Suits both sides in that the girl will treat her customer well, and expect to get a reasonable income from him. Customer gets a genuinely friendly welcome and probably a bit extra of the girl's time. Suits both sides, and both sides have few illusions that it's a combination of commercial and personal relationship confined to the bounds of the club.

Then there's the sort of regular (aka PL) who thinks that if he spends enough on the girl, when get her to meet him OTC, become his GF, etc. He's the sort of guy who's entirely capable of taking SS as a genuine sentiment. If he behaves too much like the fool, he'll become a quiet figure of fun behind his back.

It's not so much the title of regular that'll attract derision, as much as the way you conduct yourself.

Its not an insult. Its not a compliment either. Merely a distinguishment from a casual customer.

Pretty much! And when I can recognize your face, and KNOW not to approach you, then yea you are considered a club regular.

generally speaking we (and by "we" i mean "i") refer to guys who come in often and spend money as "regulars" and refer to the guys who come in and try to get free boobs as "cheap assholes" .. so given the alternative "regular" is not an insult at all..

It really depends. If I can't stand someone, but they give me several hundred dollars during a shift, I will put up with them for the money. But if they are in any way inappropriate, abusive, or start to really get me down, then I won't. It just depends on the person.

I will put up with a certain amount of crap for money. Everyone will - it's what we all have to do to earn a living. And I mean this to include not just strippers, but EVERYONE. Why would strippers be any different?

The problem is, the type of crap we have to put up with is such that most people couldn't handle it. Most of us can only handle it in limited doses.

"Regular" isn't a negative label in itself. Agreed with other ladies though: there are club regulars and there are dancers' regulars. We don't generally like club regulars because they like to take our services (watch our shows) for free and often use bullshit tactics to fenangle other freebies from us.

I think guys who sit around pondering how and why we refer to guys in clubs are spending way too much time overthinking the whole thing, and not nearly enough time spending money on the dancers!!!

yep, there's a difference between club regulars and dancer regulars.

one good thing about club regulars, though, is that if you're new, they'll ask you if you're new, and that's how a new girl knows who to avoid. it's a real time saver.

I called the ones who drank everyday (I worked everyday) alcoholics.

The ones who came for the food and water I figured were lonely.

i do the exact same thing when speaking to other customers.

    as in

"thanx for your time sweetie, i'm gonna go say hi to a friend of mine who just came in"

they get the picture without me using the word "regular".

I personally do not pay attention to classification that much. but i do take hints for instant if i approach a guy and he tells me that he comes in all the time just to have a drink and relax... i usually take it as a cue that he is not likely to spend money on me. i like anyone who is willing to spend money on me and understands foremost that i am at work and needs to make a living. =) so if "regular" an insult or not depends on the situation...regular usually wants to get the most out of their money right of the bat.....in my experience anyways...

Yeah, it really depends on the person. I have some regulars who I really like. They're respectful, they give me money on a consistent basis, and they lead pretty interesting lives. There are other regulars I've had that I seriously had to get away from they were so psychotic. I deal with everyone on a case-by-case basis.

    It beats being called "irregular."

But serously, I can be overly sensitive and I don't see a way to twist "regular" into an insult.

No way is "Regular" an insult. I'm a regular of my club and my ATF and don't mind if anyone calls me that at all. I seriously need to quit going for awhile LOL, but I'm still regular status.

I have had a dancer refer to me as a regular on more than one occasion. It was a compliment and sign of respect. Some dancers are good friends so if say Kate is not working that shift, Jane, Kate's friend will provide company to Kate's regs.
I date strippers, especially if they love to model for me.

It's totally bad, dude. You're just a regular "Jo-Schmloe." Nothing special at all. Truly...

I guess good or bad is in the eye of the beholder. I'm a regular customer of many dancers and a few clubs. I get treated well on all counts. If you spend money the term regular is a good thing. If you are just sitting at the bar all the time chatting up the bartender and looking at the girls for free you may not be considered to be the spawn of satan but perhaps something even worse....invisible.
