Default visit to SC might cost him election

In Australia our leader of the opposition who hopes to become Prime Minister's name is Kevin Rudd.

It has just come out that in 2003 he visited a NY strip club called SCORES and it is the top story on the news!!

There is even a poll asking voters whether it will influence their vote on whether he becomes Prime Minister.

HAHAHAHA I think this is hilarious. Get over it, the man visited a sc 4 years ago!

I know it's embarrassing for Australia IMO that it's being made such an issue. It makes us look like narrow minded prudes.

some are saying that it makes him more of an 'ordinary bloke' so it would work in his favour.

back in the day it would have ended it for him for sure, but now that stripping is so... "mainstream" (videos, pole classes, clothes etc) it's not such a big deal.

    i think he's a little nancy anyway, so i don't much care.

Is ther religous right present in Australia like it is here in the US?

If that happened here, it would surely ends a canidates chances of being elected.

I remember how once a German politician asked the first president Bush why American leaders always needed to have their wives onstage with them. Bush didn't have an answer--he said it was just part American politics. But it seems to me this duplicity is in all cultures, just perhaps exaggerated in this one, which has the Puritan split of passion and reason at its base; men are supposed to fit into neat boxes, and not get out. I think it is behind the unhappy marriages here in America, and also a great deal of the violence.

I've often thought--though it is probably not an original thought at all--that this duplicity is what is behind the superhero story: the man is mild-mannered in public, but deep inside is another, passionate, powerful being...and his passion can have free reign--

It will be interesting to see how this election turns out. Thanks for the information.

Man, how many politicans have visited strip clubs? If word got out on how many politicans in the U.S. visited strip clubs, we'd have no one in office!

Geez, he could have given more money to schools or set up housing for low income families. But he visited a strip club? Egads! We can't have that!

No, we dont have a religious right like the US does although we have some pretty serious conservatives who are also Christian.

The MP in question is a Labour mp - supposedly on the left of the political scale and he is a known christian. Ive never taken much notice of Aussie politics so thats about all I can tell you.

The media is really blowing the whole thing up - I sometimes think were in danger of becoming like America in that sense - no offence meant.

Aussies generally couldnt give a rats arse about who goes into a strip club and who doesnt. If Fred Nile did it would be an outgage because he is such a bigoted bastard who hates anything sex related, but anyone else - pft.

It is interesting. I had a French student once in my class (I teach in a University) who listened to a long discussion we were having during the Clinton affair. Then she said, "Our president has affairs. At least we HOPE he has affairs. He is a powerful leader. He must be a very sexual man." The Americans in the room didn't quite know what to make of this.

We see the right wing preachers telling us how to behave with purity. Then, some time later, the same characters are looking up to heaven in their million dollar churches, saying "I have sinned against you my Lord." But we don't connect the dots.

William Faulkner once said that if you hold down what is a natural impulse it will eventually find its way out of a human being, and usually in a dark way. He was speaking of his story, "A Rose For Emily." Our writer Hawthorne was on to this, too--it is very deep in the American soul.

Aren't most beaches in Australia topless? I haven't been Down Under in 20+ years but I remember many happy afternoons spent on Sydney's beaches .

Fuck yeah.. I'm definately voting for Labour now!

As for Australia, it can be a rather conservation nation at times. Yet overall we are not as 'relgious' as America or have as much of a problem with "the religious right" as such.

For goodness sake, we were founded (in a way) as a penal colony... the nation was full of criminals! LOL! So we can't really from that "foundation" (as such) take ourselves too seriously (hopefully).

Anyway, supposedly he was one of those non-tipping or spending on the dancer sort of patrons so i am back in the "I will decide when I have to do so" category of voters.

Up this way (Queensland) women sunbath topless a lot. In Melbourne last summer I was surprised that no women were sunbathing topless and all were wearing full bottom bikini breifs too.

And I missed this on the news. Fabulous.

Now to sway my vote, I wanna know: did he tip well?

^^^ I bet he didnt. Polititians in my mind come into the clubs and their minders tell exeryone how great they are and that the MP in question should be treated extra specially and have everything handed to him on a plate, you know that drill... and the MP just stands there looking really f-ing awkward and like hed rather just be at the pub.

KEVIN Rudd's [the afore mentioned strip club visitor] sister-in-law yesterday admitted to her secret past as a stripper, saying it was a period of her life she regretted.
