ugh.. the loonie game.. that's the one reason I"ll never ever work in edmonton or anywhere else in Alberta that makes it a requirement

The loonie game is not a requirement.....it is how they make money!

In Alberta, there is a 3 foot law. 3 feet must remain between the dancer and any other person during her performance. Before the law came into effect we could physically take tips from the customer. Without contact...we were forced to find other ways to make stage tips....hence the loonie game.

It is a dancer's choice whether or not she plays the game. She can choose to not play. If you are smart...you dont let them throw it at your body, you use a jug or the poster....make it like a carnival game!

I have danced from coast to coast in Canada....NOwhere have I ever made tips like I do in Alberta.

They are not guaranteed....but whether it is $5 or $500...it is still more than what you walked on stage with....and makes for a better day!

Ahaha I love how girls assume its degrading to play the loonie game... i've made more money in Alberta doing one show then I did doing an entire night of VIPing in Toronto.

If you're holding something out away from you for them to throw loonies into that's one thing... but to be layed out on a stage in a bar full of men throwing coins AT your naked coochie/tits is degrading. It's not any less so if they happen to be throwing lots and lots of them.

    Ok...

First off I am NOT a dancer but live in Alberta and have witnessed first hand the Loonie Game.

How the dancer chooses to "play" is HER choice. Not the patrons.

I've seen dancers that "stick" loonies to their boobs to get guys to knock em off or just above their cookies. They are really taking advantage of men's neanderthal competativeness, and have no issues with it at all.

The men try so hard to knock the coin off the dancer and do not want to be the lame ass in thier party so in their efforts to "man-up" end up spending way more on tips than they intended to.

I've also seen men, when confronted with the boldness of the dancers in playing the game this way, get so flustered with her confidence, that they couldn't aim to save thier souls...similar to when the "spread move" is done, and the cannot help but look at what they have been dying to see. It is almost shocking for them, and they can have the most hilarious faces!! Some even blush, and others can't get over the fact that they have the "Gates-To-Paradise" open right before them!

One night I saw a man's jaw drop when he had the "spread" in front of him and I thought his eyes would burst out of the sockets...I laughed so hard and wanted to ask him if he'd ever seen one before that moment!

At Diamonds in Edmonton I've also seen dancers use some creativity and milk the crowd for tips a plenty.

One dancer "auctioned" off her panties and the last 2 competitors were a pair of women and a guy out with his buddies....The loonies and toonies were flying into her jug like crazy as it turned out to be guys vs girls for the panties! The girls won the panties but the dancer is the one who really won that night!!! Man the tips she walked away with from that one show were impressive!!!

The game is all in how the dancer wants to play it!

Poster tubes, jugs, auctions, it just depends on the dancer's comfort and creativity.

The point is the dancers do what they want to do for the game and it is up to them. If you feel it is degrading to have coins thrown at you then you can mix it up and create your own game to get the patrons to play.

With how the Olympics and politics are strangling the business in B.C., there are more dancers coming to Alberta where the money is, and the business is for the most part is left alone right now.

I know my post may not have the weight a fellow dancer's does but I thought my observations might help bring understanding.

Thank you Sultry you are spot on.

You don't have to let guys throw loonies AT you. I've never let guys throw them at my body, i've always used a jug or rolled up poster to catch them. Sure i've had a few hit me here n there but the amount of money you make is worth it.

Well that's certainly good to hear.. cuz you just know there'd be at least one drunk asshole who would drill the loonie at the girl. I've heard of idiots heating them up with their lighters too. If that was me up there I could picture an immediate hissy fit.

Yea the lighter thing is rare but it happens time to time. I've had it happen once... once in a year. Yea its one too many times but I mean its not nearly as often as girls say it is.

Alberta is crazy insane money if its done right.

LMAO Callyish the SOB's are so bloody drunk they wouldn't know a burnt finger from the spilled drink on their shirt.

The money is good here in Alberta, and as a patron, I have to say that I enjoy the Loonie Game. It gives me the one on one interaction with the dancer, takes me from just sitting there to being a "part-of-the-show", and I love taking the promo home!

It is also a way for my hubby to see which dancers impressed, entertained, and/or wowed me. It makes for after the club entertainment

The promo that I have played for I still have...right down to the first poster I played for. I've hung each one on my wall, carry one of the keychains in my wallet, and have a magnet on my fridge.

In Calgary VIP's are no more thanks to a city bylaw so the Loonie game is the only way to show my favorite dancers appreciation, and allow me to compliment and tell them how much I enjoyed their show.
