    Default Thank You Tigersmilk!

I have been trying, since I was like 16, to reduce (not get rid of) my very curvy curve in my hip area - love handles, flanks, muffin top whatever its called.

I train on the elliptical, Iv pretty much eaten nothing, tried supplements, ephedra, carb free, brown carbs only....god it was frustrating.

    Running.

Can you believe something so simple, and easy to do no matter where you are (ok maybe not a few places) its the most effective thing like ever!

I read tigersmilk's post on it. And since have been running pretty much every day nearly, quick pace walk for 5 minutes, run for 10, so on through til around the 45 minute mark. My problem area that I can NEVER rid of - inner thighs and love handles - diminishing before my very eyes.

Dont get me wrong its hard work and I wanna give up 15 minutesi nto the session, but teamed with my ipod, my pole dancing songs on the ipod so I can imagine my most amazing stage shows ever, the motivation to feel great about myself (oh yeah and a little bit of tonalin an green tea lol) its so rewarding when finished!

Anyone stuck in a rut with their training schedule / wanna just regain some stamina cause boy can I go some now you should so run, start small and build high.

And now...Im off to the gym to run some more!

Concrats babystripper! When I wanted to lose weight for a wedding last year, I did the same thing. Except...I was not eating as much I should for running so much (I ran in the morning, and evening) I need to get back on that treadmill to lose another 10 pounds!

    Good job!

You should vary it up a bit, to keep your metabolism up and your muscles challenged- try stairs, weights (lifting is great, great, great for running), and LSD- long, slow, distance- when you feel up to it. And make sure to give your body a day off to recover once a week

Oh, and also, buy really, really good shoes, seriously.

I hope I ain't just repeating what TigersMilk said.... /off to read her thread

Yeah thanks to TM I've added in a few running spurts into my daily walk. I never picked up running b/c I have a family history of bad feet, but I think I'll be OK adding a few minutes here and there. It's only been a week, but hopefully I'll see more results, b/c I've been at a plateau.

^^ Good shoes are critical, especially if you're going to be doing any reasonable level of running. Get them professionally-fit by someone who knows feet.

The only time I had shin splints was when I was running on my old shoes. No dramas since then.

I'm looking forward to running again one day.

I wish I could run. I'm working on it...I speed walk(3-4mph) on an incline. I'm up to @ 20 minutes at a time and I try to do that 2-3 times a day 5-6 days a week. But I cant get past that...at 20 minutes I'm gasping for breath, my whole body is shaking and I feel sick. Asthma sucks..esp excersize-induced asthma.

I can't run either. It hurts my knees, makes my tits bounce (or I have to cram them into a painful sport bra), and gives me asthma attacks. I love the elliptical machine and I wish I could run instead and save on the gym membership, but I just can't do it, especially in L.A. air.

    Inspire me you did m'lady!

Am still very much loving the running, have decent shoes for it - my legs feel awesome and i give myself a well needed day off here and there. I understand its not for everyone - but it's definately for me and makes me feel like a world class athlete after (lol i know I am far from!!)
