Ah. No one told you about how you should kinda melt the plastic straps (the ones that go over your foot) before you even put them on your feet?!?
Get a hair dryer and aim it at those plastic straps. Put on a thick sock or a couple of layers of socks. When the plastic is malliable (flexible), put the shoe on your foot. Repeat for the other shoe and foot. Wear for a half hour or so.
Do this until you can put the shoe on/off without the plastic digging into your foot and leaving a major mark.
If you don't have a hair dryer, steam from a boiling kettle or any boiling water will also help make the plastic malliable/flexible just takes longer than the hair dryer.
I would never ever put shoes with those plastic straps on my feet prior to doing this as you are just asking for trouble
Melting the plastic as such helps you mould the plastic to your foot/feet.
