Angry 2 treees fell on my house

Yep. Thank God, no hole in roof. This tree, it was basically rotted. 2 heavy 20ft branches fell, & 1 missed my front door by inches. Crunched the edge of roof. Another, smaller diameter branch, but just as long fell just near back door on roof, along w/neighbor's tree branches. Can't get ins. co. on phone, & anyway I don't really have the deductible . The jackass maintence guy asked me if I called the co. "cause the branches will be removed". Doh, really? They've only been on there since 3pm yesterday, . They take care of the people they like first

Sorry to hear about that. I'm glad no one was hurt and the damage was not worse. I don't know where you are in the Midwest, but I know there have been a lot of storms recently so I'm sure the insurance company is very busy. I hope works out for you.

Thats awful. Is the inside of the house damaged at all? I hope not. You've had bad luck with this place and now this. *shakes fist at people who are screwing you*

You could always just leave them there and tell people it's now a Doubletree Inn.

Any chance a status of "emergency" has been declared in your area?

Damn, if classes hadn't started yesterday I would think about packing up my tools and going on a road trip.

Sorry about that, Whirlerz! It seems to be one continuous thing after another with that place. Since the landlord owns the land, is there any chance that he could be held liable (if the tree was dead/sick he might have an obligation to keep it maintained)? I hope you find some resolution. But, as Farrah said, glad you and your mom are ok.

    ^^^ Haha, that's funny!!!
Well, the crew finally came & chainsawed & removed trees. Part of my deck got wiped out by one tree that JUST MISSED my bedroom window, the other one just missed comming in thru my front door. The tree was rotted. Did I mention I was standing on my deck about a 1/2 minute near where the first, huge branch fell? I knew fear that day. I thought the pressure was gonna blow the windows out. I took Polaroid pics of the scenes. Tried to call insurance, but, you know tons of calls for them. We had like 75mpg winds through here. My power was out, though not too long. Thanks a lot for all your nice comments, it makes me feel better.
I'm just worried, I don't want them (park mgt.) hammering @ me to get damage fixed. The edge of roof is crunched up.

Why would they "hammer" YOU ?? That's the landlords resonsibility not yours !
One of the perks of renting is not having to worry about upkeep and repairs..Now if you were a homeowner that'd be a different story..When my house caught fire I was responsible to cleaning up the rubbish the fire dept left in my driveway and my yard. But I OWN, if I rented it would've been a totally different story, as I said earlier..

If I were you, I'd start speaking up more and let this people know that in no way are you going to be responsible. Also, I'd call the landlord and see when they plan on repairing your roof.. because it's unsafe and you're concerned about someone getting hurt and all the liabilities..etc. This is definitely not the time to be meek !

I cant remember if you are renting the trailer or if you own it. If you are renting it is his problem to fix anything wrong with the place, just like any other rental. If you own the trailer but are renting the land, and the trees were on his land..it is still his problem and you can take him to small claims court over the repairs.

Ok. I own my mobile, rent the land. It's not my fault, they hardly keep up w/tree trimming. The trees here are mature, more than 30 yrs. I have mobilehome insurance, I can't get ahold of them by phone or 'puter, I'm not real sure of all the coverage. I'm not a meek person, just chill (maybe a little too?). I have to be careful here, this place is full of snakes (2 legged variety). Sat here for 12 hrs. w/2 heavy large tree branches, scared that they'd come crashing thru. Thank God they didn't. I know it's been declared a disaster here, but again, I don't own the land, I prob. won't reap the benefits from THAT. Take HIM to court? Lots of luck, he owns a LOT of stuff. It's a thought, definately. If you see my other threads, (Member Board)I mentioned a leaking window, that's been going on for years. Thanks a lot for replies, take care. At least they (trees) didn't fall on my head

I was having idle thought concering this too. Seems like with all the leaky windows, and other problems it is a (god forbid) electrical fire waiting to happen.

Ok ..I asked hubby who lived in a trailer park for awhile...
If you own the trailer, then anything that has to do with that(like leaky windows) are probably all your problem to fix. The trees are probably his problem If they are outside your plot.Maybe even inside your plot..check your rental agreement and see what is specified.

Well, I was able to contact ins. co. They will call & come out in a few days? I'm supposed to sign the lease for the lot rent, I will discuss the leaky window @ that time. But, I know she'll do nothing. I was/am worried about rotting/mold w/the windows. I always run fans after it happens. I didn't know about poss. elec. fire. thanks.

Hopefully due to a windstorm, the insurance doesn't turn you down. I do hope you didn't tell them the tree was rotting, they could deny the claim due to maintenance of the property.
