    Default Dancing without a Pole?

    Hi Everyone,

I was a dancer for a short time in Southern California. Now I live here in Colorado and was thinking of picking it back up on weekends for extra income to my 9-5 job. I probably won't start audtioning until closer to the end of the year.

So after doing a little research and using the search function I have come to the conclusion that I like La Boheme, Shot Gun Willies and The Penthouse Club. La Boheme is the one I like the best so far. However they have no poles .

When I danced in CA I pretty much lived on pole tricks and pole dancing. I have a pole at home and I love it. It seems like a nice club but to work there would surely be a strange transition. I am afraid I'll get up there and look like a deer in headlights without a pole haha ! Not very sexy.

How do you all feel about dancing on stage without a pole? Have you ever had to go from a club with one to a club without any? Any tips? I am willing to give up pole dancing for a good club. I was just curious what everyone thought about the issue.

I went from always having a pole and doing pole competitions to a club that doesn't have one and it sucks! I'm still not over not having one but it was easy to adjust. I do a whole lot of nothing on stage, lol. I move slower, do tons more floor work (which I love so it helps compensate) and that's about it. It's kinda like modeling with a tiny bit of dancing, lol. The biggest difference for me is that it's more about the hustle and less about the show. I have to admit I'm much more in love with putting on a great show than hustling but it makes money right.

^That abotu sums it up. I went from having one to not, and yep, like modeling, but different. And my hustle is WAY more important now. Now, instead of messing around on stage, I find myself luring guys up to the stage more, and actually hustling from the stage itself.

TONS of floorwork. My knees hurt a lot more now, but you do get used to it.

If you bring in your pole from home and show the manager some of your talent, they might let you set it up on stage and do a pole feature. I met one of the Poledance Champs and she brought her own pole to her features, "just in case"...

Do you have the Platinum Stages Super Pole? I really want that one and am trying to get my BF to buy it for me.

hey.. if you have a portable pole maybe they will let you bring it in .. I dont know if you think this is practical or if they will or not.. but if you have two stages and only one gets used at a time maybe they can let you set up your pole real quick.. i dont know.. otherwise I'd petition for a pole.

I'm going to have to agree with Guen and EE... pole schmole, work on your hustle. Guys in these parts really could care less, give 'em a good eye fuck and you'll have private dances lined up after your set.

If you really miss it, LaBo does have three poles that open up on busy weekend nights- the two at the end of the bar and the Platinum Pole stage near the entrance.

Thanks everyone ! You are right...I should worry more about my hustle and less about my pole work. I guess the pole sort of became like a security blanket for me and I should venture out.

That is a photo of me on my pole at home in my avatar. It is a Lil' Mynx. I don't think I could set it up anywhere without drilling holes into the ceiling to install the hardware that comes with it. I really do enjoy having it so I suppose I could just get my pole fix at home.

Thanks for the tip Mia! I haven't had a chance to check out LaBo in person yet. I am just going by my research so far. It's good to know that there is a pole in case I need an emergency pole fix for my addiction...hehe!

You are all the best! Thank you for giving me your perspective!

I worked at a club that didn't have a pole and didn't allow floorwork. Eek! It's more about the hustle to make money, then.

I work at a club with no pole on the mainstage and I ROCK THAT STAGE!!! Yes...it was confusing at first, but I got used to it and can do some awesome floorwork and freestyle dancing. I prefer no pole. Like they said...BAH! POLE SCHMOLE!!!

Are there any You Tubes of dancers rocking it on stage without a pole?
I would love to pick up some good moves and floorwork from them.

the club I started at had no pole and no floorwork........now that's difficult. Actually... I had a harder time re-learning how to dance on stage with a pole and floorwork at the new club than I did starting out without a pole/floorwork. It was a good start in my stripping career...I can own the stage without a pole...besides.. poles + floorwork= bruises. I had awesome thighs at the old club though from not being able to shift my weight to anything other than my own two feet and maybe a railing for support.

I had the opposite problem. The first few years I danced none of the clubs I worked in had poles. I moved to a new state and it seemed like every club had a pole and many of the dancers did incredible pole tricks. I watched and I learned, and after a while I felt comfortable pole dancing.
When you start at your club take some time to see what the other girls are doing and figure out what works for you. One of the great things about working without a pole is you really have to put the attention to disrobing. Build up the excitement, take it slow. I love floor work. If you're flexible you can drive the guys wild . Whatever you do I'm sure you'll be great.

She is so right. I worked at a no-pole/no floorwork club for two years, and it took me a while to realize that eye-contact and flirting were how to hustle tips--not by doing an impressive pole trick and hoping someone is watching to tip you for it. I learned over time to be really proactive about getting tipped on stage--lots of teasing, lots of smiling, and anything out of the ordinary to get noticed. I did take a more light-hearted "entertainment" approach whereas others would just parade their beauty around the stage. Either approach works. One is more proactive than the other. Overall, think high-energy nude runway modeling. heh heh.

Move slowly. Make it more about showing off your body than about showing off your moves.

Same here. No pole, no floor work - AND I'm new. It's really hard to look like I know what I'm doing (because I don't).
