Would Cairo be safe to visit alone? I'm guessing it would be best to have someone with you. I would love to see the pyramids in my lifetime.

cairo, i would not go alone as a woman. the streets are insane to cross, it litterally put the fear in me!

I first came to Cairo alone, and I felt safe. My girlfriend has visited me a couple times, and she is talking about moving here alone in January to teach.

If you were part of a tour, definetly it would be safe and comfortable.

In terms of being mugged or attacked or something, those behaviors are basically unherad of here.

The problem is the street harassment! Be prepared to DRESS more modestly or risk a day full of cat-calls from undersexed boys.

The driving is scary, total chaos, and crossing the road can be fucking scary!

Here is some more pics from OUTSIDE the compound... judge the garbage level for yourself:

Funny, reminds me of the edges of Vegas, not Florida. FLorida is much more lush and green than that.

What are you doing for work in Egypt? Do many people speak English or do you speak their language? (Which is what?) I am very interested in all this. Seems very cool.
