"Could you dance naked night after night, having to deal with propositions from aroused patrons, without drinking or doing some type of drug? Not for long. Particularly when it is being offered to you all night long, in a party atmosphere?"
um, there are many girls on this board who do.
she says she worked in miami for years. my guess? she couldnt hack it.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions i guess. Not saying I like what she wrote, but it does say "Opinions" on the top of the article.
Edit: I'm with you Britt. Just cuz she couldn't handle it don't mean there aren't other women (or as she said, 'girls') who can.
Ehh...just more dipshits who don't know their ass from a hole in the ground.
Not for long? What's their idea of long? I've been a dancer now for ohh....6 years? I've never, ever done a drug.Could you dance naked night after night, having to deal with propositions from aroused patrons, without drinking or doing some type of drug? Not for long. Particularly when it is being offered to you all night long, in a party atmosphere?
Obviously...the've never met a SW girl. Yes...a lot dancers are not to savvy...but not all of us are dumb, naive girls. Don't class me with the rest of them.
And we are not talking about street smart, savvy together women, we are talking about girls. Girls in their early- to mid-20s. Physically grown up, but inexperienced in the ways that the world can corrupt a person. Being a nude dancer or hustler for tips in a gentleman's club will steal your soul, piece by piece, without you even being aware of it.
And it'll only steal your soul if you let it. The person that wrote this, if it was a former stripper, was apparently one of the naive, inexperienced girls who did drugs every night. Probably put out to, just cause she was "inexperienced" with the world.....
See eariler reference to ass, hole and ground. For those of you who don't believe what I am saying, I worked in this industry for years in Ft. Lauderdale and Miami. I know what I am talking about. What I am writing today is only a very small part of the reality of "adult entertainment
^^^
Um yeah, I actually enjoy dancing naked night after night and I don't do any drugs....
Oh god....my soul...is being stolen...piece by piece while I hustle for tips...yup, there goes my soul.
I hate crap like this. Really I do. Because ya know, none of us here are smart, put together women...in a couple years we're gonna be giving $5 blow jobs on the street so we can buy some crack...every last one of us. Yup.
I just want to send her angry letters. Who the fuck is she? Obviously shes a fucking expert because she "worked in this industry for years in Ft. Lauderdale and Miami". I need to stop because I'll just keep bitching...

^ i clicked on the post comment link and it just takes you to a message board. i was going to correct her dumb ass, too.
It was a poorly written article (if you could call it that) based solely on opinion with no back-up factual information, empirical data or authority. It didn't flow and was not well-organized. It was sensationalist and biased. Who cares? Any thinking-person would look over it, and any ignorant person would listen to it and not go to strip clubs, but that's all the better for us because then we don't have to deal with them![]()

It sounds like she is throwing up her confessions all over the page. Guilt runnning through her head a bit? I know...I wouldn't forgive myself for being a drug addicted lazy hooker night after night either.

sounds like propaganda to me. maybe she has some other reason for being against this proposed club?

"Could you dance naked night after night, having to deal with propositions from aroused patrons, without drinking or doing some type of drug? Not for long. Particularly when it is being offered to you all night long, in a party atmosphere?"
yes.
i've been doing it for over 2 years now and i am sober 98% of the time at work.
it's called will power.
Keep those college girls on the low pay scale for part-time jobs! At least they will still have their immortal, unified souls.

i've had this talk with MANY people before. most recently a DJ who was dating a dancer from another club. he was telling me how dancing "turned her into a drug addict and a hooker"
no.
no it didn't.
it might have made the transition easier and it might have given her a means to go down that road, but it didn't make a normal mentaly healthy girl start hooking and doing crack. it just doesn't work that way.
i do agree though, that our industry attracts many girls who are succeptable to those kind of temptations. i just don't agree that it's the act of stripping and the athmosphere of the club alone that "makes girls" do such things.
i don't care how many shitty customers i have to deal with, how much i have to compete with extras girls, how easy it would be to find and do hard drugs...
you won't see me in the VIP coked out of my mind giving a custy a BJ
won't happen.
ever.
When i started stripping I was young and naive but for me dancing helped grow me up and tought me alot about the world outside my shelterd bubble. I have never done drugs. I am greatful for my experinces dancing both positive and negitive.

just one more example of mainstream media perpetuating (and profiting from) the Hollywood Stripper Stereotype.
Can you go to college day after day, where cannabis, alchohol, and nicotine are being offered to you on a daily basis, and still come out non-addicted?
Yes, you can.
Because you have a brain that lets you choose.
I hate when people's lives go sour, and they play the victim. It shows that they've learned nothing about themselves.
Take it to Tyra.
Seriously. I've danced for nearly 3 years and I do not drink or do drugs inside or outside the club.
I'm not denying that there is drug use, lecherous behavior, and prostitution in the clubs. But this woman sounds like she didn't have the strength to deal with any of it. It's a good thing she is out of the business because she was letting herself fall victim to it.
She sounds weak and bitter, almost as though she performed poorly and didn't make any money. So she's gotta slam the business publicly because she sucked at it.

I swear there is drug use and pressure in alot of other jobs besides ours. I wonder when others will wise up to that. Like the UPS worker has never taken a few bumps to survive a long night or the CEO hasn't smoked a blunt.
you live like an ivy vine
you can only survive by clinging onto trees
that's your flaw
put down some roots so you can stand on your own

Well, if you're many of the beautiful women on here, you just might as well get paid for guys thinking things about you anyway, which they do when you're fully clothed. And, yeast infections are kept at bay because being naked helps air you out and keep moisture away. So, I think dancing naked is healthy. And a smart choice, but I think guys never thought of her, and she kept her leather undies on, so she got sick![]()

"For those that don't know, adult entertainment is live theater, concerts, sporting events, art shows.
There is nothing 'adult' about a strip joint, or 'gentlemanly' about a gentleman's club. These places exist completely and solely to pander to sexual titillation.
Don't try to dress up this business with a happy little euphemism like, 'adult entertainment' so that you can skate by the general public, who, for the most part, have no idea what goes on there. It is the sex industry, pure and simple."
^^^WTF. For those adults that don't want to frequent theatrical shows, concerts, football games, or art exhibitions, there are strip clubs. Not all entertainment has to be family-oriented. She was citing family entertainment. I personally enjoy exercising my American freedoms to dance nude and to enjoy others that dance and entertain. When a child reaches adult age, they may choose to do the same.
Also, stripping is not a sex industry. It is a sexually-oriented industry. I do not make money by having sex or by performing sex acts. I dance, smile, and entertain, and I choose to do it in the nude. The nude body is inherently sexual, and I will not apologize for that.
I was under the impression that this is a free country. And free means being free to make choices. Those adults that choose to go into this potential strip club are free to do so, and those that don't agree with it are free to steer clear of it.
