    Default Dressing your age?

I hate TV. Puts bad thoughts in my head.

Anyway, do you think you dress your age?

I LOVE the juicy type (dosent have to be couture) sweat suits, low rise jeans, T-shirts, hoodies etc. That stupid show on TLC says that anyone over the age of 21 shouldnt be wearing this stuff.

Ok I understand that if your body type is wrong or your walkin around with your thong hanging out than its a no no. And I realize its an appropriate time a place thing, ie: job interviews, important meetings, people with careers that require business attire.

BUT is the check out lady at the grocery store, the bank teller, my college professors or strangers behind me in line going to really think less of me because I am running errands/going to class in jeans and t-shirts?

I get the corralation between obsence T-shirt sayings, too much skin, looking sloppy, and not getting respect, but does that mean I have to be wearing the equivlent of "business causual" to buy milk?

    Thoughts?

If you are still in college for the first time, I think you will probably be ok.

Yes. You're fine. This isn't the 50's. If that's what you feel comfortable in, who fucking cares?

Where I grew up, EVERYONE- my peers in HS, my mom, my grandma- dressed this way.

Fuck that. Why do I have to conform to some bullshit rule about dressing just because other people aren't confident enough to dress how they want?

Thanks! I was thinking the same thing. I cant stomach the thought of wearing knee length skirts, cardigans and two inch heels every day if I dont have to! Give me my Silver jeans and skechers!

Exactly. Yesterday Mom took me shopping at JCPenny (she wanted to cheer me up and I'm broke) and I grabbed stuff from Women's and Junior's department. You just need to know what's tacky and what's OK.

I also think this is a result of our kids dressing older than their age. I think it filters right on down to us in our 20s, maybe even 30s. The kids are dressing older, so WE are expected to dress older too.

I'm in a dilemma myself... It's so hard to go shopping because I'm stuck somewhere between the trendy JR's crap and the matronly old lady stuff. I remember when I used to clean out Forever21. Now, I'm like, "how the hell is this popular and in style?!"

When it comes to your career, dress the way you have to (whether you're a stripper or a banker). When it comes to buying milk, do what you want. Your job should support your lifestyle, not the other way around.

When I dress down I just wear work-out clothing which is usually yoga pants or capris and a tank. It's hard for me to find shorts that I don't think are too short. I feel like I showed enough ass when I danced for four years so now I tend to be a bit more modest. As I have aged my hips have gotten bigger too, I use to have a more boyish figure and could wear about anything now if I can find a pair of shorts my size (0 or 2) they usually are too short for me. I think it's a matter of the clothes flattering you not necessarily an age issue.

Haha, me too! I'm going to go to school for nursing soon. It seems like all of the women in my family are either nurses or in the medical field some other way

You described my favorite way to dress.
I'll be 27 soon, but I just started going back to college this spring.
I also don't think much of fashion these last couple years.

haha, this reminds me i recently saw this older lady, she was about mid fifties wearing this tiny shirt that said "i am a virgin, but this shirt is old" it was hilarious. she was thin and could pull of a fitted top but...come on now so if youre not doing anything like taht dont worry about it. I guess Im "too old" to be wearing the juicy style but screw it i like it and i think i look cute so who cares! like u said as long as your ass isnt hangin out and you are not hootched out its fine!

What-the-fuck-ever. I'm 34 and I dress this way and look great in it. Dress for your body and personality not your age.

Yep, dress for your body and personality, not just your age. I think it's a good idea to stay in shape no matter how old you are so that any clothes you wear automatically looks better!

Wear what you like, not what the tv tells you to wear! I love button up shirts, pencil skirts, bootcut jeans, ballet flats, and comfy yoga pants, but intensely dislike leggings, "maternity" peasant tops and shirt-dresses. Am I "dressing my age"? Who knows.

I wear what I like and think is attractive. However, like Bella said, I go into stores now that I used to love and wonder about what they are selling now, because I find it hideous.

If I try to dress my age (which is 27) then I just look much older. I wear low rise, nice tops, heels, etc... I hate when shows say that its inappropriate for people over 21. I love those tLC shows, but I definitely do not listen to them lol

Wear what you want, screw those who don't like it. Life is too short to be worrying what others think of your clothes.

Huh, what? They're saying running errands in tracksuits/jeans/t-shirts is unacceptable? Not sure if I read yr post correctly....

What are you supposed to wear, blouses? Ehh I think they just ran out of material.

P.S. I absolutely love when you see older men and women out and about looking good in they're t-shirts and jeans, as long as they're not frumpy.

You have a much higher chance of someone looking at you and thinking what awful taste you have, if you are wearing blouses/skirts etc......they mostly look like "frocks" to me, replete with horrible patterns.

Lol I was at a BBQ place with my bf for his once-monthly meat eating, and there were women dressed as described above.....ffs.

We guys are 'guilty' of this too. Sure, I'll get dressed up for work or a night out, but on weekends I prefer sneakers, visors, baggy jeans, and Adidas shirts. I don't think what someone wears at a certain age matters as much as how they wear it. If you like the way you look and feel in a certain type of clothing, others will too. (unless you have absolutely no sense of style)

One of my favorite waitresses is old enough to be my mo...er older sister, and she looks damn good in low-cut jeans and a halter top.

I dress the age I feel, not the age I am.
The only difference is now I am able to look a lot classier while looking sexy, when beffore, I just looked slutty. With age comes style.

I've been told I dress to 'young', and I'm just straight up jeans and tshirt girl (I'm 2. I don't know exactly what I'm expected to be wearing, but yeah...I just ignore.
