If you have to pick just 1 thing from MAC, what would it be? A certain eyeshadow color? Liner? Pigment?
I've never shopped there before, and I need to prepare for my shopping trip, and figure out a budget.

Definitely a lipglass. Probably Fine China or Purrr, or Dreamy.
Edit to add: Lusterglass in Wonderstruck is awesome too.
I think you should get:
Fluidline and 263 brush
The new Smoking Eyes quad
Subculture lipliner
A lipglass of your choosing
Loose Blot powder
Is there anything specific you need to add to your makeup collection? Like do you need more blushes, more e/s, more lippies, bronzers, highlighters? I can give you better recs if you give me a better idea of what you need.
ETA: Oh yeah, you said ONE thing. My one thing would be Fluidline (and the brush).
Studio Fix!
But I couldn't live with just one thing.
I go to MAC to buy new concealer or ONE new eyeshadow....and come out two hundred dollars later....every time. It's a TRAP. But I loooooove it.
there's beauty in the breakdown

definitely a fluidline.

I <3 MAC!!! I can't wait till I get my Pro Membership! To me, the base of your makeup is the most important thing. I can't live without my Studio Fix foundation and my matching powder! Love, love, LOVE them! I'm also in love with their Strobe Cream now. You put it on right before your foundation and powder. There's a thread about it on here. Definitely a great MAC product IMO to go along with your base.![]()
Concealer all the way.

^Oh yeah! I forgot to mention the concealer.
its the only thing that covers my dark circles!
I don't suggest you go with MAC foundation-wise, there are far better on the market.
Great thread! I was thinking of this myself for when we go to Mac in Vegas. Anyone who wants to spot me with their discount, I will give you cash even BEFORE the transaction if I have an idea of what I MUST have!
Thanks!

I am interested in pigments. Any colors really.
Fluidline and the brush is on my list.
Also..I see you talk about shark skin a lot, This is an eyeshadow stick? To be used as a base?
If I wanted to have a solid collection of eyeshadows to do 2 looks:
Work look (in purples&pinks)
Day look(in bronzes)
And a few other colors to build off thoes colors to make a different work looks, open to suggestions....

It's a foundation. They also have one mixed with powder. I think the mixed one came out first?

I wouldn't go with MAC for primer either. I'll get back later tonight with some more specific recs for you, bf is demanding my attention right now...
If I had to choose my 5 MAC "must have" items, they would be:
*Strobe Cream - Use under foundation for a glowy look
*MAC Paint in Stilife - I use it as an eyeshadow base - a little goes a long way!
*Plushglass in Ample Pink - my "every day" pink lip color
*187 Brush - buffs foundation to an airbrushed finish
*182 Brush - I use this after applying bronzer/blush and buff over my finished face for a flawless finish!

I would be stuck between mac paint in canvas and their lipstick in lustering. I absolutely love the paint as an eyeshadow base, it keeps my eyeshadow on all day without creasing. The lipstick is my fav red, not to light and not too dark.

I love my Lipglass in Nymphette and their Shroom eyeshadow. I have a ton of other colors and products but those are the two that I use the most.
My MAC Kohl Pencil in Smolder is my favourite thing in my makeup case.
If I go to MAC, will they give me a free makeover if I buy some of the stuff afterward (like say $100 worth of makeup)? I really want to learn how to do bold bright colorful eyes for my blue eyes and pinkish complexion, because when I try it I just look like a trailer-park whore. I know some cosmetics counters do free makeovers - does MAC do this?
^
Yek,
They will put anything on you that you are interested in buying. If you are going to spend at least $40 they will do a full makeover, which includes things like lashes and these little sparkly jewel things sometimes.
Nice! Do you have to make an appointment for the makeover?
^^At counters, it ranges from $40-50 fee, which is redeemable in products at the end. At stores, it's a $50 fee and NOT redeemable in products. So if you are going for the makeover, go to a counter so you get the products and make sure you call to make an appointment so you have the artist all to yourself. If you don't have an appt, he/she will be obligated to stop and help customers, but if you have an appt, they will make sure they have enough staff.
You can always pop in and just ask the artist to show you, but I find I get way better service and attention when I make an appointment. I learn a lot more too. If you have any specific makeup questions, you should write them down and bring them with you.
Kaylinn, I'm coming up with a list for you shortly.

MAC eye products are the best! My faves:
e/s: Shroom, Smut, Woodwinked
Brushes: 266, 139, 217
Powerpoint (liners): Engraved, Bountiful Brown
Fluidlines (gel-liner): Blacktrack
I use all of the above for the smoky eyes look.
