    Beginning Outfits

I just finished reading Lily Burana's Strip City, and at the beginnng of the book she gave what seemed like a good list of the basic costumes in a strippers bag (white/silver/gold/neon sets, the shoes, the mini dress, the long dress, etc). I just wanted to hear some other views on what to start out with. I'm still living off my day job and don't want to spend a whole lot on costumes immediatly. What I really want is versatility but still be noticeable. (And match!)

Also, can someone explain the process where they show off the girls in dresses each night. Does every club do this and is it required? Should I prepare for this or something?

It depends on the kinda club your working at. I mean, if youre working at a gown club...you don't need to buy bikinis and little two piece outfits.
I've never ever seen that thing where they show of the girls in dresses each night...not that I've been to tons of clubs...but I wouldnt be worried about it. I'm sure if they do something like that, they'll tell you.

the "showing off the girls in dresses" thing is known as "uptime" at my club. it's an introduction of all the girls in gowns (unless it's a theme night, then it's costume or what-not).

not every club does it and not every club is a gown club, find out where you'd like to work first and then we can better help you be prepared.

Strip City is a memoir, not a how-to guide, and while it's an interesting read it's not representative of most clubs in the country.

Don't buy much to start. After you see what girls are wearing when you work and look at outfits and stores online you'll get a better idea of what you want and what will stand out.

I have only invested in a couple pairs of shoes , one neon pink stipper dress ( short ) , and a two peice blue velvet set...... and I think was probably too much . I am using what I already have ( lingerie from V.S. and Fredricks , old halloween costumes ect. ) and making outfits out of it .

Get creative ( for example ... an outfit can be short skirt that you have your tailer friend make VERY short and a white button up shirt which everyone seems to own ....... tie the shirt up high and viola ..........schoolgirl outfit ) .

I bet if you look hard at what you already have , you'll have a few outfit already . They will get you through your first night or so . Unless you have the $ to spend , use what you have first and don't go too far in the hole to buy gear.
