    Default Hair Extensions

Ok so I bought this set that was FANTASTIC. They're the clip on variety, nothing permanent. Anyways, they looked beautiful for the first few months. Curled perfectly etc.

But now they're knotty every time I brush them and just seem like a frizzy mess. How does one take care of them? I have three, which clip two on the side and one in the back. I tried to curl them back to their original shape with my curling iron but the hair didn't take. Suggestions?

How expensive were they? Is it human or synthetic?

    My guess is this:
Clip in hair is rather inexpensive. Therefore, the hair itself is cheap. Expensive hair still has the cuticle, which makes it last longer and stay nice. Inexpensive hair, such as hair used for clip ins or for glue in extensions has no cuticle. The cuticle of th e hair is stripped off. The reason they do this is because it is much cheaper to strip the cuticle off, than to get the hair to all go the same direction. Of course, if the hair went different directions, the cuticles of the hair would rub and cause matting and messy crap. So they just strip it off.

Problem with this is hair with no cuticle doesn't last very long before it starts getting frizzy and nasty. This hair is only made to last a few months. All you can do is throw it out and buy more. It can last longer, depending on how you care for it...but you can't expect it to last a lifetime.

For how to care for it....the less heat styling the better. The more you style, the shorter lifespan of the hair.

I'd say that if it's a knotty mess and frizzy and won't take curl....time to get a new set.
