    Default Tons of Bruises!

Okay, I've been dancing for two nights now, and my legs are horribly bruised. It looks like I have some sort of disorder, that's how bad they look. My knees got the worst, I started developing tiny little bruises all over them, and now they've all melded into big purple blotches.

I always seem to go through phases with bruising, for a couple weeks I'll be fine and not really bruise, but then for a few weeks I'll bruise horribly and from anything. I've quickly had to incorporate leg warmers into my dancing wardrobe because even my dermablend won't cover the bruises when slathered on. What can I do to try and help my body stop bruising so damned easily? I'm not that big a fan of leg warmers.

Arnica is your friend. Go to Whole Foods or some similar store and look for the combo pack that has a big tube of arnica gel and a little blue canister of tiny sugar pills. Let four or five little pills dissolve in your mouth a few times a day, and rub the gel into the bruises several times a day. It'll heal the bruises faster and prevent new ones.

As you dance longer and get accustomed to the moves, you'll bruise less. Also avoid alcohol and aspirin, which thin your blood and make you more prone to bruising. Until you heal, wear thigh-highs if you don't like the leg warmers.

Yup fishnets are always supersexy and hide the bruises for the most part. Now the lovely ones I occasionally get on my back or my hip....I just have to live with those.

I love garter sets, but where I work lapdances are totally nude, and I'm worried fiddling with all that before and after every lapdance will take too long. Or are they pretty quick once you've got it down? I think garter/stocking sets are so elegantly erotic, and we don't have a lot of that at this club so it'll do good for me if I can get away with wearing them. I wish they made thigh-high leg warmers for the meantime. (well, I know they do but I can't find them anywhere around here) What does the Arnica do that makes the bruises go away and prevents new ones? And what does the sugar do? Tonight I'm ditching the leg warmers (I'm too tall, they still don't go to my knees) and am just relying on a half-pound of Dermablend and dim club lighting.

People here have been raving about Arnica gel for a looooong time. I finally picked up a tube and I wish I'd done it sooner! It's a homeopathic thing... from a flower. I'm guessing it increases blood flow in some way to carry out all the icky old blood underneath the skin.

Also...get Sally Hanson's airbrush legs. I use this when my legs are bruised abd and it hides REALLY well. Just spray it on @ 1/2 hour before you go to work to give it a chance to dry thoroughly or it could rub off.

And take heart that under the blacklights, leg bruises arent nearly as noticable as they are in your home!

Yep. I love it. I use the tablets and gel. I dissolve a few tablets under my tongue before my first stage set of the night, after I get home, and the following morning. I also rub the gel on my knees before I start working and as I get dressed to go home. I still have problems with my boney little knees being sore, but advil is good for that.

Thank you all so much. Arnica is first on my list! I spent a decent portion of the night running in and out of the dressing room slathering myself with Dermablend. Thank God for those black lights! BTW, are those black lights harmful to the skin?

I put a little bit of baby powder on my knees before I go on stage. Helps them slide against the stage more. The longer you dance the more used to them your body will become and you'll figure out how to not put so much pressure on them when doing floor work.
Also taking vitamins will really help. Iron is good for you.
I normally take fish oil, good for your joints and amazing for hair, skin and nails.

Your bruises will go away as your skin gets used to dancing. In the meantime though, I highly doubt that anyone will notice them while you are at work. You'd be surprised at how much the black lights camouflage imperfections. I have seen girls who in normal light have enormous scars, wrinkles, tons of cellulite, etc go on stage and look like they have perfect skin. However, if you do decide to use Sally Hansen's Airbrush Legs or self tanner or Dermablend to try to cover up your bruises....PLEASE remember to do it at home long before you get to work. There is nothing more disgusting than going on stage after a girl who has doused herself in some sort of aerosol body makeup/tanner and you are sliding around in it knowing it's getting all over you and your outfit and your customers. Sorry it is just totally one of my dancing pet peeves!!
