Another story: My friend was watching TV, and swore up and down that she saw news about a morbidly obese woman who accidentally smothered her boyfriend during sex. She was so humiliated that she confessed to murder, hoping that the real cause would be covered up.

Yeah, they had to bring in a whole bunch of different BBW to figure out which one had killed the guy. Wow, I watch WAY too much CSI.

    J. Fuckin' Christ, g-lee!

What kind of procedure did they use? Ass printing? Titty dusting? I'm at a loss here...

Now you KNOW there's gotta be pics of the 800 lb. lady. They are on the internet somewhere.

They actually used strands of silk from the ladies' lingerie to figure out which one had been in his room last if I remember correctly. She had smothered the guy underneath her and left him there once he was dead because she didn't want the comments that would come along with knowing she killed a guy from passing out on him.

Sadly, I'm watching CSI right now, as usual.

Wow... I'm at a loss about this thread. On one hand, I feel bad for overweight peole who get treated horribly because of their size. It's like fat bashing is the only thing people feel they can do in this society.

On the other hand, what the hell is wrong with a person that lets them get to zoo animal dimensions! Seriously, five extra pounds or too tight jeans is my cue to hit the gym a little harder and push back from the table a bit sooner until things are all good again. You would have a lot more wake up calls before you get to boyfriend smothering, dead kitten in your fat, shitting on yourself levels. I've always wanted to know how people just let themselves get that way.

Of course, there are medical problems like thyroid issues that can make you gain weight, but that can't be the reason for everyone. Is it laziness? Lack of self awareness? Major psychological problems? Obesity is on such a rise that it makes me wonder what's wrong with our country as a whole.

pheno, as a former fat person, i have no idea where to begin taking apart your comments.

There are many MANY reasons, its not "they just like to eat". Its sorta like saying asking why do drug-addicts do drugs, why don't they just stop...

"...Roselie Bradford (b. 1944) of Sellersville, PA; 5 ft 6 in, measured at 1053 lbs, but estimates that she weighed more than 1200 lbs at her peak two years earlier, a claim accepted by Guinness. Already over 300 lbs when she dropped out of college, Bradford became an exercise instructor, running seven miles three times a week, but continued her steady gain in weight..."

    Thanks, Alaska!

Wow-I was hungry. Argh. One of my friend's roommates is 700 lbs. I'd never met anyone so large. It's a little scary, because you'll be sleeping ( I stay with him on my marathon work weekends) and all of a sudden Darth Vader is breathing from the other room; Just to get to the next room is an effort. I'm not a fan of skinny, at all, but there's got to be a point where people realize they are losing mobility-there are so many issues.

I agree, there is this one guy at work who is young, say early 30s, and must weight 350+, he's a nice guy, teaches/coaches football for inner-city kids, but, everyone once in a while he'll be getting changed in the bathroom stall at the end of the day to go coach and he is *OUT OF BREATH* from changing clothes!.

WTF, that should be the first clue that your heart is going to give out on you

I wondered where that came from, lol...

As far as fucking fat people goes, I had a roommate once way back who would fuck anybody. He was fucking this 350 pound woman and he told me they had to do it doggy-style, it was the only way. I felt bad for her, actually--she was a really sweet woman. And some of his other girlfriends were worse--I could start a whole thread about this guy.

Bah...so gross, some of that. And sad. I love to eat, and I eat way the hell too much sometimes...to the extent that I feel sick and just keep eating. But I still can't imagine eating enough to get to over 300 pounds. It boggles the mind. What a horrible disease.

And obesity is contagious too. That's why there are fat cities...people surrounded by fat people have a statistically greater chance of becoming overweight themselves. Just like skinniness is contagious is certain circles (celebrities, for example). People tend to fall into the routines of their peers.

I was wondering if our liberal/careless posting in this thread would make anyone feel bad, but I'm standing with my final thought....we're talking about 800 pounds here, not 300...

    Hey 'Laska!

I guess there's no shame in my game.

I chose "Budai" ("Laughing Buddha") for a reason. At 250lbs, I'm way above my ideal weight, even for a broad shouldered man like myself. Although I "carry the extra pounds well", whatever the fuck that means , if I were to try Djoser's avatar pole trick, I'm pretty sure I'd pull my arms out of their sockets!

I recently posted an old wedding pic on TOTH's "Picture request thread!" in Picture Post, and seeing my sleek former self and following this thread has actually inspired me to follow up on getting a sleep study (I have sleep apnea) and resume working out and running regularly after a 9-fuckin-year hiatus ...

So, yeah, this thread made me "feel bad"--but in a good way!

Woah. Woah. Wow. Long azz Amber post ahead, lol......

In 2003 there was a lady who lived in an apartment complex next to the Wal Mart that I frequent... they actually had to break the wall to get her out and pull her onto a flatbed towtruck.

I figured out why the After The Storm panels were covering up the side of the apt building by watching the news.

She had mice living on her body. Like, actual mice had burrowed between her back and her couch and were actually living on her and off of her food droppings. They said they found several dead mice and remnants of a bird underneath her, and McDonalds receipts dating from 1995.

She wound up dying several months after they moved her because of her infected bedsores. She weighed close to 1,000lbs.

It is truly sad that morbidly obese people get ridiculed the way they do. It's like...a truly visible addiction. Imagine if smokers walked around covered in tar, reeking, sticky, and steaming and oozing and smelling like a freshly paved road. Or if cocaine addicts internal damage was visible (ie, if their noses just straight up fell off and they had to walk around with a nasty blood soaked piece of gauze to cover up the hole and prevent constant infection). What if people with bulimia walked around covered in vomit all day every day, smelling like hot trash and putrid death? If everyone's addictions were visible, people would SO not respond to fat people the way they do.

My weight has gone up and down since high school. I went from being the girl with the perfect body and the big natural tits...I used to have a body that woulda won Hawaiian Tropic and Hooters contests... and then my dad died and I ate myself up to almost 220lbs. Now I'm smaller than that, and am still in the process of losing weight... but food can SO be an addiction. It's just that when someone is fat, you can look at them and see their most intimate weakness, the thing that truly cripples them like nothing else. You can look at them and instantly you know their secret.

Your words are eloquent, accurate and profound. IMO, what you've written above would be a powerful movie scene if filmed properly...
