    Default Beauty Products to Avoid

Hi ladies! I know that here everyone recommends all their favorite beauty products that we all love, but I think it's time to start a thread about beauty products to avoid. I know that we've all bought something that other people have just raved about, you get it home, and it's a piece of crap. So now, I want everyone to spill the dirt on the face wash/body lotion/eye shadow/whatever that just didn't work. It doesn't matter if it came from a drugstore or a department store; if you hated it, please share. I think it might save a few of us a couple bucks.

Here's mine: Loreal Eye Makeup Remover. I usually buy Neutrogena, but everyone kept telling me that Loreal was better and you get a few more ounces for about the same money. So I buy it and have used it three times; all three times were terrible. It takes my eye shadow off fine, but I have to SCRUB to get my mascara off and this is after I let the remover soak. I had to literally peel the leftover mascara off my lashes. Do Not Buy This; It Is Crap!

POP Beauty Eye Cakes (eye shadow) at Sephora. The "cake" is so pretty, but these shadows blend for shit. Don't waste your money on any POP Beauty eye shadows.

    Let's see...

Diorshow, IF bought for use in the club. OTC, it's beautiful, no clumps AT ALL, goes on great- but even still, not really dark enough for me.

I absolutely looove urban decay's shadows and some of their other products- but- that primer everyone keeps raving about? Neh. Did not work for me.

That ribbons and creme body wash. I believe it's Dove- not sure. Uhg. Very cheap and artificial smelling and feeling. Went back to Bath and Body the next week.

That's all I can think of for now...

I LOVE the Urban Decay primer! Before I bought that, I was ready to quit wearing eye make-up because it would never stay on or would crease really badly. The best $14 I've ever spent.

Two Faced-First Base. It's supposed to be a primer/shadow type thing, OMG it left so many creases on my damn eye it was un-fucking bealieveable!!!

Iagree with the urban decay primer. Bought it cause of all the raves...didn't care for it at all. Waste of my money.

I also agree with tghe Dove ribbons and creme body wash...however...their ribbons and creme....in a green bottle...luminescence or somethign, that stuff I liked.

Bare escentuals. Everyone raves about it and loves it. I've tried it 4 different times, and hated it every time. I'd buy it and it didn't work, I'd read more good reviews and wonder if maybe I just had a bad experience, and try again, and again...t just never looked good for me. I gues many people have good experience, but for me, it sucks.

Any mascara that has a little comb instead of a brush. This seems to be the latest thing in mascara, but I've tried several different brands, and think they all suck. You just end up with clumpy, spider eyes.

I LOVE Urban Decays Primer potion. It makes even very cheap makeup (like 99 cent NYC and Bonnebell) last all night.

I kind of agree about Bare Escentuals. I think their foundation and eye colors are overrated, but I love the mineral veil, highlighter, and blushes.

All of the John Frieda color products, like the Brillaint Brunette shampoo, conditioner, and color glaze are such crap. The shampoos and conditioners left my hair with this weird, waxy feel,a nd that glaze has the weirdest consistency. It's like runny egg yolks, so there' sno way to put it in your hair without it sliding all over your skin/shower. It did crap for my color, but still managed to stain my shower.

I agree with Bare Escentuals, it makes me break out and turn white in pictures. It sucks. HOWEVER, their bronzer (which I got as a free gift at sephora), rocks!

Britt, I have a feeling you would love TIGI's Brunette Goddess.

You've gotta have great skin for BE in my opinion. I only wear it when I'm going for the natural look, but it's pretty heavy coverage compared to my tinted moisturizers. The titanium dioxide is what makes photos come out white. Watch for it, it is in a bunch of foundations with sunscreen.

My avoid at all costs products.

TIGI Small Talk-this stuff left white flakes, like mega-dandruff in my hair. I had to shampoo again it was so bad (and I'm blonde).

Neutrogena Self Tanning Foam with Bronzer-The bronzer is so dark, you look ridiculous and it comes off on everthing, it also leaves almost no color when you wash it off. Oh and the bronzer streaks like crazy. Worst product ever!!!

All Soft Shampoo and Conditioner-Smells awesome but somehow makes my hair flat and dull and frizzy all at once. This stuff also makes my head itch so bad people probably think I've got fleas.

Try Diorshow Blackout. It's the darkest mascara I have ever seen.

Itchy is the perfect word to describe that stuff. I hated it. My skin is combo with mild acne and I couldn't stand the way it felt or looked.

I use this makeup remover ....it doesn't leave the greasy feel that nuetrogena did. I love it very much. No matter what brand I use, I always hold the cotton on my eye for a minute to let the makeup remover "attack" my mascara so that I don't pull my lashes out. (I don't think I'm describing that very good). But anyways, I love this makeup remover.

Yes, Bare Escentuals made my skin very itchy.

And I could never get good coverage. Flawless finish, my ass. I would layer on more and more trying to get my zits covered and my blotchy skin evened out, but all I'd end up with was a face caked on with powder. So I'd blend and blend( buff and buff?) trying to get the powder look to go away...but then I'd just be back to blotchy skin.

Self tanners: Anythign with a spray has been bad experience for me. I prefer the lotions, and Loreal sublime is the best, the gradual tan and the regular stuff, both work well.

I agree with the John Freda color glaze. That stuff was crap.

See, that's another argument for things being VERY individual. I have Small Talk, and SWEAR by it as a root-lifter. It's done wonders for me; but I have to put it on just my roots immed. after I get out of the shower. My husband, however; had the exact same problem you did, and he had to quit using it. His hair is black, so you know that was waaaay obvious.

BE was crapola. I do have great skin and it still made me itchy and just irritated.

John Freida color glazes are a total waste of money. (Artec color depositing shampoo/conditioner work wonders though!)

I've thought about that, but I'm hesitant. How is it for volume/length?

I agree with the BE and the Freida. Blah to both!

Oh, I bought one of those little sectional eyelash curlers- the ones that are smaller and straight? Maybe I'm just a klutz, but I can't use it for my life!

Sally Hansen nail products suck the big one for me.

Have yet to be impressed by any BedHead product- but it has been a long time.

I've never tried the Bare Escentuals, but is that the make-up that comes on that late night infomercial? I have serious doubts about any make-up that's suppose to make you look flawless with a simple "swirl, tap, buff".

Really? Maybe I'm doing it wrong or something. I've been using CoverGirl mascara; what do you use?
