Default What's the best way to relax facial muscles ?

I really need your help here..My face has become so tense and I have a major headache..I'm not sure what's causing it, could be dehydration, lack of sleep, stress, worry..the list is endless right now..My muscles are just tight and it's killing me..Please any advice ?? I'm exhausted and i just want to go back to sleep but, the tightness, pressure and pain are keeping me awake..

Sleep, I hear you calling ..

I'd recommend a long, hot shower with nice, new, soothing scents. Thinking about it, the tension in you "face" might actually be tension elsewhere and showing up as referred pain in your face. No muscle relaxants handy, I suppose?

I have this, too. Not causing any pain right now, but always tense.

I was thinking about reaching for a bottle- prob not a good idea, though.

Nope, no muscle relaxants. I'll try the shower..as a last resort, they tend to wake me up..My goal is to sleep right now.. I think you're right about there being tension some place else. I might need to soak, I'm pretty sore and achy all over.

To sleep, try a bath instead of a shower. I put tea tree oil in mine. Light some candles and just focus on how good the water feels. Maybe have a glass of wine. You don't want to make a habit out of drinking to fall asleep, but I think everything in moderation...

Might now help right now, but self hypnosis (or hypnosis tapes) help me a lot. I used to clench my jaw a lot and that's the only thing that helped.

Give yourself a face massage. Once you massage around you should be able to find your sensitive areas. Massage the sensitive areas while breathing slowly, deeply and fully.

This should get you relaxed enough to fall asleep.

I would take a Lush bath with Dreamtime bath melt and give myself a scalp massage with Sleepyhead massage bar, focusing on the temples. If no Lush, then still take a bath with whatever you choose and do a scalp massage. If you can grab some essential oils, neroli and lavender make you sleepy.

If you've never been to Lush, they have a lot of stuff to help make you sleepy.

I did this before but, I'll try it w/ the breathing..I think I'll put a warm wash cloth on my face to help relax the muscles. Thanks

The best way for me is to lay on the floor, comfortably...with my arms and legs just splayed out. You close your eyes and then you tighten up every muscle in your face. Hold for 10 seconds and then release and just focus on the sensation of all your facial muscles melting to the floor. Repeat this 5 times.

    Always helps me.
