    Default Strangest Music

About 10 years ago, I watched a particularly wasted stripper dance to Black Sabbath's War Pigs. That struck me at the time as quite unique and made me think I'd never see THAT again. I was wrong. Just this week I heard it again in a different club, danced to by a girl that couldn't have even been born when that song was big.

ANYHOW, what's the strangest music you have danced to or seen someone dance to? Let's see if War Pigs is as bizarre as it gets!

War Pigs doesn't even begin to come close to the strangest music I've heard in a SC. In fact, I had a dj who would play it for me regularly because he knew I liked Black Sabbath. I do prefer other songs over WP, but I'd rather dance to it than This is My Last Resort, or whatever the hell that awful song is.

    Strangest ones:
    Grandpa, by the Judds
Ghostbusters---as a joke, but became a regular thing

More to come, I need time to think about this.

It'll go to Music Mix probably. But I'll bite.

Agreed with Andygirl, "War Pigs" isn't a weird or obscure choice at all. I danced to it last week, too. Black Sabbath is downright classic rock.

The CD I just burned for work has Dinosaur Jr's "Freak Scene," an old Six Finger Satellite track, "Final Solution" by Pere Ubu and "Bastards of Young" by the Replacements. For sheer obscurity I would have to say "Hurricane" by the Thinking Fellers Union Local 282 is the furthest-out thing I've danced to. Or maybe "Shotgun," by your city's very own Big Black. But at my club you can hear Wire, the Modern Lovers, Johnny Thunders, Midlake, the Brian Jonestown Massacre, Fugazi, Edith Piaf and many, many other less traditional tracks.

You definitely have to drop by any time you're in Portland. It's very small and we have a jukebox filled with CDs the dancers have burned themselves, so there is something for every mood on there. Oh, and Ana Matronic from the Scissor Sisters is from Portland and gave the club a shout-out at their last PDX show.

I'd love to dance to Edith Piaf, but I don't have the balls. The weirdest thing I've danced to was Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" because whatever. I love the song. And of the four guys in the audience, one of them thought it was hilarious. The dj told me not to use any more ironic music (that Lapdance/ Stripper Crying one by Bloodhound gang is another weird one I used) or he would get in trouble. And the girls always bitch at me.

    sugar magnolia- grateful dead.

I went in early for a mid-shift once and the DJ knows I love the dead, but it's really awkward to dance to and kind of corrupts it I think.......

Last year on Halloween I danced to both the Exorcist theme song and the Halloween theme song! I dance to crazy stuff all the time. At the clubs I work at weird or obscure music is often a big hit.

^^ I agree! If you could manage to really lose yourself in it, "La Vie En Rose"(not that I'm biased, heh) could be one of the most sensually decadent songs ever! BUT you'd have to be able to not be distracted by the baffled, drunken custyfaces at the rail.

Agreeing here that, as standard classic rock, "War Pigs" really isn't too out there. Rush's "Tom Sawyer" took me by surprise, once, though!

We had a jukebox at the first club I ever danced at and sometimes they would just put it on random and what you got was what you danced to. I remember dancing to the a cappella Alanis Morisette song off her first release. It was amazing(ly bad).

    I. Hate. You....I can't get away with that anywhere I work.

I played The Replacements ONCE onstage because the crowd was abusive and rude (Guam, natch.) "Favorite Thing" from "Let It Be." & I had a Budweiser bottle in my hand. Crazy times!

The Hottie DJ's at The Northern play Motorhead's "Ace of Spades" & "Shoot 'Em Down" for me because we all can get away with it occasionally.

the weirdest, and meanest (choice by our dj) was the bloodhound gang's song "discovery channel"

not at all sexy, and just totally horrible. i love the bloodhound gang, but that song is like the worst ever idea to dance to.

my dj played me some crazy shit yesterday, but he asked me if it was cool first... he played that song for a new girl out of sheer evilness. she rocked it though.
