Yek, it's colorful and attractive. But somehow I thought you would make a larger more profound statement. You know, getting a bigger tat and saying "fuck ya'll if you don't like it" to the world. You are a very spirited woman so I just assumed.

This one is actually a bit bigger than I wanted.

I'm actually quite demure in appearance and always have been. But even this tat, when you consider my background, is a big ass FUCK YOU in its way. It honors my roots and also how far I've grown from them. It's the magnolia flower from the top of the tree, LOL!

It's beautiful. Now you're making me want to get my first tat even sooner.

    Thank you!

Today was actually an interesting day for the tattoo. This morning it looked hideous - cracked and wrinkly, with the lines all squiggly and the colors mottled. I guess the scabbing peaked or something. I was getting concerned, but then I was showering and I went to wash it, and the colored skin just started peeling and rubbing off in sheets. The more I tried to wash it clean, the more scabbing came off. Now it's still got a couple of raised spots, but it's pretty and smooth again, and most of it just feels like my skin, if slightly more sensitive.

The tattoo healing process is really fascinating to me. This is neat. I'm definitely going to get some more on down the line.

I love the tat. It looks sooo good! but make sure you keep it moist with ointment. With both of my tats I had minimal scabbing because I kept ointment on it at all times. If you do have a scab though, you really shouldn't peel it off. Just let it do it's thing..it'll come off eventually.

Easy to say...hard to do though. It's like I see a scab and I just *have* to get it.

I wasn't picking at it. It was just chipping off in the wash like scabs do. It's still doing that this morning; when I wash it, I have little colorful bits coming off. It's funny because I've always heard about scabbing from tattoos but I thought it would be like an actual scab, you know, all brown and bloody. I didn't realize it would be colorful!

They told me that for aftercare, I need to wash it a few times a day and apply regular, unscented lotion with NO vitamin E or aloe. So I've been doing that three or four times a day and occasionally applying additional lotion. It's healing up well.

I've always wanted a tat, but could never figure out anythign I wanted permanently on my body. I'd like something almost invisible...white ink maybe...on my wrist. How bad did the wrist hurt? Seems like it would be an awfully painful place to get tatted..

Yeah, it hurt. And they can only do little highlights for white; it fades quickly and they can't do a whole tat in it. My magnolia was going to be white since they are white flowers, but they had to do the outside of the petals in pale pink and just highlight the inside with white.

Dayyyumm!! Just saw this thread, Yek. I love your new tat! I have two on my wrists and I found that to be one of the least painful spots on my body (well, compared to my spine). Then again, mine aren't as large as yours is.

I think it's a great sentiment also. Don't think of it as sinful or anything to be ashamed of. You got it to honor someone you respect. Nothing bad about that!
I'm curious to see what else you get.

It's all healed up now, but it still looks fake because it's all bright and shiny. I hope that stage lasts even if it does look fake, because it's pretty. There won't be anymore tats for awhile, but I'm not ruling it out forever!

That is so pretty Yek! And I adore the symbolism in it. Hmmm, is there a tat thread on here already? My tat is very symbolic (to me) and I'd like to share...

True Tattoo, in Hollywood. The artist's name is Taku and he took EXCELLENT care of me! It was also quite inexpensive for a tattoo, $100 (but we tipped him $40 on top of that - I tipped $10, and K slipped him another $30 for being so awesome to a scared little newb like me). Big recommendations from me!

    And EE, please do share!

    Because Yek said so!

This is mine. My only one right now. I got it right after my son was born. It wraps around my right ankle, two gecko's (Az native I LOVE gecko's!) One with my initials hidden in it's design and one with my son's intitials in it's design. Connected at the front by a heart with our colors mixed together and in the back by a ying yang, again with our colors mixed. Little drops of paint in between for my love of art.

The front and back of the tat. I drew this myself, and will design my next one too...if I ever get it.

A lot of people say that they won't do it again after getting one, but then you walk away and realize "that wasn't all that bad" and wind up back again haha.. they're addicting... lol Seems to be how it works...

That's the one I just got like 3 weeks ago And I have to agree with what was said above, the spine was my worst so far haha

Wow..EE..thats so cool! I was GOING to get a chameleon that had his toungue on my toe,his body on the top of my foot and his tail wrapped around my ankle. Had the guy draw it up...but chickened out when he pissed me off. I wanted it really colorful and he said "what are you...a lesbian?'...WTF? I didnt say put a damn rainbow flag on it dumbasss. And even if I did..what the hell business is it of yours what my sexual orientation is? grrr..... PLUS when I asked how long it would take he said "about 3 hrs IF we do it all at once" I asked why we wouldnt do it all at once...he said "because my wife is about to have a baby". Umm..ok..you'r egoing to get BEEPED OUT in the middle of my tat?? I can just see his phone going off and him getting all flippy and tatting a nice line up my leg. No thanks.

    Anyway..thats MY almost-tattooed story!

Bummer that they cant do just white. I saw a REALLY cool tat once...a guy at a club I was working at (actually..at YOUR club Djoser) had a martini glass on his wrist. But it was done in blacklight reactive ink so you could only see it under the lights!! He said it was experimental and he had a friend that didi it...never seen another one. THAT would be KICK ASS!!!

They can do just white, but it looks like a weird scar most of the time. I guess that also depends on how much surface area you want to cover, as well as your skin tone. My friend had three white spirals on his leg and they looked really cool, but he was also very tan.
