I'm talking long wear, not wearing off from drinking, kissing, etc. What brand is best? Any tips to make it last longer?

Also, I hope you don't mind me adding to your question Viola:
ETA: a lipstick that also doesn't dry out your lips?

I actually would be interested to here if anyone has had any luck with these. Maybe the more high end products work better than the cheapies? I have only tried Cover Girl brand and was so disapointed that I never tried any other brands.
It was the kind that comes in a wand and then you apply the lip balm on top of it. I didn't even eat or drink anything and it started to "flake" off my lips within two hours. I then tried to wipe it off and that only made it worse! I looked so damn funny! Hopefully other girls were able to find a better brand.

I don't wear lipstick really, but I've heard about 2 tips. Again I don't wear lipstick so I can't say for sure that they work.
Put ice on your lips before you put the lipstick on, and
Put a similar color eye shadow on your lips before applying lipstick.
Wish I could be more help! I'm so stupid when it comes to make up!![]()
From the ones I've tried so far, I like MAC's long-lasting ones. I scrub my lips with a wet toothbrush really really well first.
If you think school is hard, try being stupid.
I use the Covergirl Outlast or Max Factor Lipfinity The products are nearly identical. I also recently tried the Max Factor version with gloss that is liquid and shimmery (MaxWear lipcolors http://www.maxfactor.com/user/get/pr...ear_lip_colors ) and I like that too. The MaxWear also feels lighter and less dry on my lips. (The MaxWear isn't listed under their long-lasting lip colors, even though it is a similar product to Lipfinity)
As others have said, your lips need to be in good shape with no chapping or peeling skin. You also need to be sure your lips are absolutely clean with no moisturizer or balm at all on them before applying or the color won't stick well. Be sure to let the color dry at least twice as long as they say before applying the gloss and you cannot re-apply the color, only the gloss. Keep in mind that any sort of oil on food will make it start to come off, as will long, heavy makeout sessions (and bj's).
If I don't eat any oily foods, I will usually wake up the next day with these colors still on my lips. I usually use cold cream to take them off without being harsh on my lips.
I haven't tried any more expensive brands, and I haven't heard great things about any of them either, so I'm not going to spend more than the $8-$12 I'm already spending on drugstore brands just to try them out!
