Default If I had never become a stripper...

~I probably still wouldn't own a blow dryer
~I probably still wouldn't own makeup or know how to apply it
~I'd be up to my ears in studen loans!
~I might still not have looked at my own genitalia.
~I wouldn't know that nipple fuzz on girls isn't that uncommon
~I bet I would still be uncomfortable walking around the house naked or sleeping naked

I was just thinking about what an impact dancing has had on my life. Anyone else?

i got MORE dolled up to go out before i started dancing. i always blow dried my hair for everything, it was a rare occasion i let it dry or did nothing with it. and i always wore makeup out. i never wore a lot of makeup, still dont, i dont need to. but i always went out with eyeliner at a minimum, no matter where i was going.

its changed my attitude towards work, and not in a good way. i need more work ethic now!

i look at men differently now, too. big time. im screwed up when it comes to relationships and i have trouble separating work me from real me so i dont trust easily.

-I would still be living paycheck to paycheck $ wise, overdrafting my account constantly and working minimum wage slave jobs for periods of no longer than 2 months before i get infuriated with "the man" and pull a no-call no show

    - I would still be blow drying/straightening my hair, putting on lots of makeup and dressing up just to walk to the bank/grocery store/class

    - I would not be confident walking around naked, and with my body and all it's parts.

-I would not know how to shave my pussy properly

-I would not have these awesome quads, glutes and biceps.. .my body would not look this good

    - I would not have the perspective on men I have now

    - I would not have the perspective on society I have now

-I would not feel as capable and independent as I feel now.

-I can shake my ass better than just about any girl I know.
-I am so confident it's not even funny.
-I can actually walk in heels now.
-I now have better social skills (somewhat).
-Much more open about my body.
-Am not as naive about the business as I once was.
-I understand men alot more...the good and the bad.
-I wouldn't have my own car, apt, furniture, or anything if I hadn't started dancing.

Ha, even when I became a stripper and then retired, I still don't own a blowdryer!

Probably still be living on/off unemployment aka "The Dole" because all I could do is hospitality work (waitress) and those jobs come/go easily.

Forget living where I am living, forget being able to have afford my cat all the care I gave her (she probably would have been "put to sleep" sooner due to the cost of care), forget being able to see Australia, forget about meeting all the people I have met and friends I have made thanks to my travels................. this list is long !

I probably would've learnt about (and kinda understand) men anyway so my attitude there hasn't changed for the better nor worse due to stripping.

I also probably would still also have shit social skils as I learnt "the art of small talking" and being confident enough to go up to complete strangers to initiate a conversation due to stripping. Without stripping, I would probably have kept being the wallflower at parties etc.

Anyway, I have gained alot more than I have lost by doing this business.

If I had never become a stripper...

Id probably be married with children, 30 pounds heavier. Working 9-5 behind a desk and hating my life. Ugh *shudder*

*Not that there's anything wrong with that life. I'm sure some people love it and it works great for them. I'd just rather be dead.

I thank God for my job...

If I had never become a stripper....

-I wouldn't be kickin' ass and takin' names at 22, taking care of myself and my baby, paying all my own bills, tuition and building good credit with my own place, my own nanny, my own '06 car, and still saving money, having a life and an awesome wardrobe.

-I wouldn't be able to finish my studies at a pace that still lets me enjoy the material and life b/c I already have a substantial and reasonably secure income.

-I wouldn't have traveled as much last year.

-I would have been stuck and miserable in CT

I would still think that people with amazing hair were just born that way

I wouldn't be able to compare my shitty childhood to my daughter's awesome one

I would feel like a failure

    I wouldn't own my home

I wouldn't be so lonely from seeing so much of the truth in people all the time

^^ Ooo! Ooo! Yes! I can't BELIEVE I forgot to mention Stripperweb ^^

The big one I've already mentioned yet I feel it is worth mentioning again due to how grateful I am to be able to earn the money I earnt is:

Being able to offer my cat BIBS choice thus extending her life by 6 months or so. Without the income stripping has offered me (and the ability to make certain amounts of income in a night or two) I would have had to help her transition from her life much much sooner. She wouldn't have seen her 14th birthday without stripping.

Plus I'm still forever grateful about how I have been able to 'see' (in a way) my own country in such a short period of time due to it.

I would be without alot of things if I didn't become a stripper.

Granted, I do wonder what I would be like now at 29 (soon.. next month!) if I had never taken those steps back in 2001 to start this business.

Would my life be worst off like I think it would be if I hadn't started stripping? Honestly, I don't know. Yet what I do know is that I am grateful for what stripping has given me (even the not so pleasant parts).

Lol!! That is so awesome and true. I was just saying to my husband the other day how if regular women knew about clip in extensions and half wigs they could all be in love with their hair.

    If I had never stripped:

--Would have never gotten body confidence, or would have gotten it much later

--Would never have had my daughter

--Wouldn't have been able to apply fake eyelashes in less than two min. And along with that, probably wouldn't have known how to do elaborate eye makeup or other makeup tricks. I can't imagine anyplace but a strip club that super dark, smokey eyes, and/or massive glitter wouldn't look insanely atrocious. But I love it so much!!

--Wouldn't have known the truth about many types of people, especially those who i wouldn't have ever given the time of day before I danced, not because of snobbery but because of intimidation. I've learned so much from the strong women, the glamorous women, the abused women, the biker chicks, the druggies, and of course, their various boyfriends, girlfriends, and husbands. Before I entered the SC I was very naive, and I'm grateful for the street smarts that I've gotten from dancing. Very little intimidates me now, and I am no longer naive at all. Some of it has been wonderful, but some has also been terrible. It was a weird way to come of age.

--Might not have known the kinship we share as strippers. I don't think that many adult women really get to know new people the way we do. It's a truly unique experience.

This thread makes me think of how much being a stripper has defined my entire adult life to this point. It certainly wasn't the only thing, but I never could have predicted the way it would impact me. Even though I wouldn't want my sister, daughter, or any other young woman I care about dancing, that doesn't mean it was the wrong thing for me to do. It has enabled me to do certain things, but it has also removed the blinders from my eyes in so many ways. And once you see something or become aware of it you can't undo that.

    -Wouldn't have great big boobies
-probably wouldn't have current nose 50/50 on that one I dunno I'd probably still have had it done but stripping definetly helped with the $$
-Wouldn't have my baby girl (Pomeranian)
-Wouldn't have met some truly kick ass people
-wouldn't have time share in cancun
-would have liked girls more. Now i think most are bitches.
-would have been more naive in the ways of the world and specifically men

edit-I mean straighteners here. I knew blowdryers existed before I was a dancer. Man I'm an airhead sometimes...

-That first year out of the parental home would have been a lot rougher.
-I'd probably still feel like a perv for wanting to dress up and show off.
-Would have probably done more drugs and partied more-more work, less party, for me at least.
-This third year of college would be less likely-it's great to have something to fall back on, jobwise.
-my feet would probably be less trashed right now.
-I'd be feeling old at 30, instead of getting my groove on.

I wouldn't be so comfortable and confident in my own skin.

My bf would still be in his piss ass job and never see the kids.
I'd be the at home work full time mom of 2 with still no money
I wouldn't be losing the rest of my post baby weight.
I wouldn't be able to pay off my bills and stupid student loans.
I wouldn't be able to buy my kids nice things.
I probably would still be very uncomfortable with myself and think I'm a hedious fat beast. (Now I don't, I notice that most girls, have cellulite on their ass. AND IT ROCKS!!!!!!)
I would never know how to climb or spin around a pole.

Wow its scary to think of what i would be like if i never stripped I was a shelterd homebody before.

I would have never leaned what the world was like outside of my husband and my house.

Would belive I was ugly and unappeling to men

Would not have met people have majorly impacted my life be it postive or negtive.

Would not have a head of gourges long blonde hair.

Would never have found out who truely loved me or was friend my friend and more importantly would not have known how important that is.

Would always wonder what if everytime I passed a neon sign glowing girls girls girls.

Would never have faced my fear of rejection head on and learned how strong I truely am

Theres more I am sure I will think of later but stripping is something that impacted my life and thought me things I needed.

    I wouldn't be knocked up
I wouldn't have met the man of my dreams
I certainly would be traveling a lot not getting paid enough (before stripping I did experiential marketing tours)
stripping exposed me to a lot of craziness really fast but i found it fascinating.

Hmmm the biggest change that would result if I hadn't gotten into dancing, would have been the financial and material things. Dancing helped me to pull myself out of a bad financial spot and get stabilized on my own in the world...e.g., get an apartment in MY name, get my car repaired, get another much newer car to use as a "daily driver," repair and maintain my credit, etc. Even "regular job"-wise was helped by dancing. Dancing gave me a great confidence boost which helped me at job interviews. This confidence boost came from knowing that I was now financially stable, the boob job + new hairdo that resulted from the good money made dancing, and sharpening my people skills at the dancing job. I also had the confidence of knowing that if the employers didn't want to hire me, it wasn't a matter of life-or-death or eat-or-starve, because I could always still pay my bills by dancing if need be. There have been MANY times that I would ponder "where would I be today?" if I'd continued to work the shit min wage part time jobs(i.e., the only jobs that would hire me a few yrs ago) as opposed to dancing. I probably would have stayed broke, and ended up with some kind of depression or hardcore drug addiction(as a result of trying to cope with a broken life). Ugh it's actually really scary to think of what might have happened to me if I hadn't "bitten the bullet" and started actually auditioning at the clubs.
