Me too on this one! I had such bad experiences with girls in high school I had written them off as catty bitches. After dancing and meeting so many strong, beautiful, incredible, intelligent women, I see that the catty bitches- while they do exist- are very much a minority. I LOVE women now... my problem is, I kinda hate men.

It's so strange to think about where I'd be if I hadn't become a stripper because it became such a big part of my life. Three of my best friends are strippers and I love them to death. I do know-

-I wouldn't be as confident our outspoken as I am now.
    - I wouldn't be as comfortable with my body.
    - We definitely wouldn't live in the house we do now.
    - We probably wouldn't have taken some of the awesome vacations we have.
    - I would probably have taken one of the few mediocre job offers I received when I graduated from college and would be barely getting by, secretly jealous of strippers and the lives they lead.
-The things I think of as attainable goals now- padding our savings account, saving for another vacation in Mexico, buying a Lexus- would just be dreams.
-My husband and I probably wouldn't be as open about our sexual desires as we are. My becoming a dancer led to a curiosity about experimenting with girls, which led to us talking about our fantasies more than we ever would have- and acting a few of them out....
-I may have met other friends elsewhere, but no one in the world could compare to the girls I've met dancing. They are the best.

There would be benefits- I never would've had to lie to my family and strangers about what I do, for one- but the pros definitely outweigh the cons for me.

I would be working for 7 dollars some where in this small town, busting my ass so hard I would never get to play with my puppy or see my boyfriend (and we live together).

All that money would be going straight to college and eating, so I wouldn't be able to build a savings.

I wouldn't have the chance to create monetary goals that I could actually fulfill with motivation and learning.

I would put up with more shit from guys.

I wouldn't have to lie to my parents all the time.

I wouldn't get to see so many beautiful boobies all the time !

I am loving this thread! So here's mine:

    * If I had never become a stripper I would've never learned how to apply eyeliner and eye shadow.

    * I would've never had the joy of getting extensions (my hair is super thin so I almost cried when I finally got my so cap extensions because they were so beautiful)

    * I would've never gone tanning

    * I would've never gotten a gym membership

    * I would still be fat

    * I would've never had enough money to go to college

    * I would've never bought a brand new car that I LOVE

    * I would've never gotten to travel as much as I do

    * I would've never even thought of going to expensive stores like Nordstrom or Bebe (I'd still be wearing clothes from KMart)

I never would have gotten a brazillian (or probably not have shaved either, I always just trimmed)

I would be feeling hopeless about paying off my debts, instead of being well on my way.

I may not have been able to get back into dog showing and training. Next, horses!

    I wouldn't have gone skiing.

I wouldn't know that pussy comes in a lot of shapes and sizes.

I wouldn't know that confidence is so, so much more important than looks.

I wouldn't be using my dance skills

I wouldn't be covered in bruises

I wouldn't be very skilled with hair curlers and straighteners

I wouldn't have met all these awesome girls

    I'd still be a pushover

I wouldn't be going to Kentucky and Europe over the next couple years

I'd be working at Fred Meyer filing CDs and being unable to be nasty right back to nasty customers for $7.95/hr. Ugh.

I wouldn't have smoked pot in months.

I honestly dont want ot picture my life if I'd never taken up stripping. I wouldnt have my degrees, own my apartment, wouldn't have my bookstore, wouldn't have my savings, wouldn't have my spare time...wow, I'm so in love with stripping right now, lol. I've never been able to hold a 9-5, so it's seriously the only reason I am doing well.

    If I had never danced:

~ I wouldn't have traveled to Dubai, London, Cabo and various places in the U.S.
~ I'd probably be as unhealthy as my friends are, and be clueless as to how to fix it.
~ Though I'm sure I would have gone to college either way, I wouldn't have been able to do it without debt, and I make fabulous grades because I actually have time to study and still be able to pay the bills.
    ~ I'd be a pushover to men
~ I wouldn't have realized that very rarely do men really want to just be your friend. It happens, but mostly they are just waiting for an opportunity to get in my pants.
~ I deffinitely wouldn't be as mature as I am now at 23. I always seem to be the one reminding my friends not to sweat the small stuff.
~ I might be confused that I'm sexually attracted to both men and women.
~ I never would have realized that even if I look like ass if I make the sex eyes and hold peoples gaze I can usually have nearly everyone in the room asking "who's that girl?" and trying to talk to me by the end of the night.

    On the bad side:

I probably never would have been sexually assaulted this last time which was the most traumatic of the few I've experienced in my lifetime.

I can never be on time anywhere

I wouldn't have missed out on relationships with some really great guys who just couldn't get over the idea of sharing their girlfriend even if it was only pretend.

-I would still be 15 lbs heavier

-I'd put up with more bullshit from men. Stripping taught me that if a guy isn't giving me what I want another certainly will.

-I'd probably be further along with school. Stripping has kinda killed my motivation and work ethic. I'm so used to instant gratification and it's hard to buckle down and work towards long term goals.

    -I'd be less confident.

-I would have never developed an addiction to false eyelashes and french pedicures! LOL

-My knees wouldn't creak and pop.

-I wouldn't have to constantly lie to my friends and family.

-I'd be a boring, broke grad student that was overwhelmed with student loans.

    - I'd still be with the asshole who got me into dancing

    - I never would have made it back to college

    - I wouldn't have met my fiance... therefore would not be due with baby #1 right now

    - I would still live with my parents... my mom would still be with my abusive father, and she wouldn't be returning to school this fall

    - I would never have learned to stand up for myself or tell people no

    - I'd be struggling to make car payments....

the list goes on and on...

I do have to say, I can't ever regret dancing... it's made me who I am now and allowed me to live the life I do.... *cheesy*

    Very good thread.

    - wouldn't have the confidence with my body.
    - would still be a wallflower with people. I think the people skills we earn in this inductry may serve us better than the money.
    - Would still not trust my own intuition. Dancing taught me to COMPLETELY trust my gut when it said, "this person's no good."
    - would still be miserable with my tiny nipples.
    - would not have realized that my labia minora are gigantic.
    - would never have known that my gigantic (non-knot tying) labia are totally awesome.
    - Same with the nipple fuzz. And the fabulous hair. And make-up? Faggedaboudit.
    - I would never be able to roll out in 8-inchers like it's nobody's business
    - Would never have been so completely turned off from drugs and drinking
    - would never have been thrown up on.
    - would never have bought my '08 Honda. w00t!

General confidence, etc. I didn't make a mint while I was in (two and half years; seemed longer) but that's probably because I have an AMAZING fiance who's putting me through school and all that.

    Edited to add:
And, being 21, I can't imagine having worked these past 3 years at Dairy Queen or (yak!) Hooters. Ugh, can you imagine not being able to tell a customer off? Stripping is the best, while it lasts.

If I hadn't become a stripper, I would not have my current job. I work for a great company and got a great job that's my first 'real' job as well because I spent 3 years doing internships during the day for neat things and then stripping at night. They also hired me because I used my stripping career as a hiring point. Everyone else in my office has 5-10 years of experience doing what I am doing (Among other duties, I cover the adult services section of a large local newspaper). Bam!

I also would be much less graceful and have a very different view of the world and my own personal maturity/intellectually developed levels.

Also, I never would have lived on a tropical island by myself and completely changed my life if I didn't have the ability to make money by dancing, and to psychologically process it as well.

I'd be dead from a loser male or falling asleep behind the wheel of a car from working 2-3 jobs to survive. NO SHIT. Stripping was my salvation in Life.

    What an awesome accomplishment! Congratulations!

I have so many, and a lot of them have been said by others, but:

*Would know NOTHING about make-up, hair, nails, tanning...nothing about how to look good. I wouldn't even know that looking good makes a HUGE difference in how people treat you. I had this really naive, idealistic view that people would respect me because I was just a good person. Now I know that presentation is more than half the battle.

*I never would have joined a gym or started caring about how my body looks. I wouldn't look better at 27 than I did at 19.

*I wouldn't know how to get along socially, talk to strangers, work a room, and get what I want from people. I'm still an introvert -- always will be -- but I don't have to let it rule me anymore.

*After graduation, I would have had to take a lame, low-paying, entry-level job in my field instead of working freelance ONLY on project I loved, building an impressive portfolio, and how starting my own business. I got to skip so many steps just because I had to time and money to pursue my interests.

*My boyfriend wouldn't be finishing college this year, or if he was we'd be in student-loan debt up to our eyebrows.

*I don't think I'd feel as free. I literally feel like I can do anything now. You can always get what you want...it's just a matter of figuring out HOW.

Dancing bought me a lot of "firsts" (my first camera, first trip abroad) that I may have gotten later, but certainly not at such a young age. And it felt good to do it all on my own.

    I would never

.....have experienced Olga's gentle hands ripping off hairs from my vag on a monthly basis.

....have had the pleasure of being turned down for a dance from Usher.

....have survived in NYC for three years

... have gotten my dream come true and become a professional writer

--Wouldn't have known the truth about many types of people, especially those who i wouldn't have ever given the time of day before I danced, not because of snobbery but because of intimidation. I've learned so much from the strong women, the glamorous women, the abused women, the biker chicks, the druggies, and of course, their various boyfriends, girlfriends, and husbands. Before I entered the SC I was very naive, and I'm grateful for the street smarts that I've gotten from dancing. Very little intimidates me now, and I am no longer naive at all. Some of it has been wonderful, but some has also been terrible. It was a weird way to come of age.

--Might not have known the kinship we share as strippers. I don't think that many adult women really get to know new people the way we do. It's a truly unique experience.

This thread makes me think of how much being a stripper has defined my entire adult life to this point. It certainly wasn't the only thing, but I never could have predicted the way it would impact me. Even though I wouldn't want my sister, daughter, or any other young woman I care about dancing, that doesn't mean it was the wrong thing for me to do. It has enabled me to do certain things, but it has also removed the blinders from my eyes in so many ways. And once you see something or become aware of it you can't undo that.
Damn Andygirl, it's like you took the words right out of my mouth.

    To that I'll add..

    Woudn't have met my husband

Woudn't have met my best friend. friends for 13 yrs..we're two peas in a pod

Wouldn't have "played" with other women and realized how much I like it.

Woudn't have been so open and done so many things sexualy as I have

Dancing has made me think of sex with a very male attitude...
Instead of being like a frigid housewife..."you wanna do what?!?"
    Now I am like ...hmmm..why didn't I think of that...how interesting

So great to read a thread so positive. I had a shitty time as a stripper, but also an awesome time and would do it all over again. In fact, I'm going back to it in a month after 18 months away and can't wait.... I especially aim to get good at the pole this time around...
