    Default Halloween

My bf and I went to see Rob Zombie's Halloween today. I didn't like, and I'm a huge fan of the one's with Jamie Lee Curtis, I dunno. It just wasn't the same for me, although the beginning was different then the other movies and that I really did like. I don't want to give anything away if anyone hasn't seen it yet.

When I went to the restroom during the movie I was really effin scared, lol I thought Mike myers was gonna pop out of a stall or something, it was very scary.

Did anyone see it? What did ya think?

I haven't seen it yet but I really want to! To tell you the truth, I haven't even seen the original ones! Crazy, huh? So when you say you didn't like it, does that mean it's not worth seeing? Rob Zombie makes some weird ass movies.

I thought it was crap. Like, to the point where I found myself laughing instead of being scared at how bad it was.

Rob Zombie sucks as a director. He goes for all gore, but loses important details in the process- like storyline and plot.

Like House of 1000 Corpses...I couldn't even be scared or grossed out, I was too busy trying to figure out what the heck was going on. One second it's about a group of kids stuck in a psycho family's house of horrors...the next it's about a supernatural death doctor who lives in a well with undead creatures? What?

    LOL I totally agree! LMAO.

and lucki, don't waste your 8 bucks going to see these movies, instead take that and go rent the origionals. But that's just my opinion.

I cant wait to see. Sheri Moon on a Pole??
    Could life get any better.......*sighs*...........

I am biased though, I love Rob Zombie films and his music. Switchblade have you seen Devils Rejects? The character of Baby Firefly in that was equal and on par with the men Id say.

We thought it was "eh". If you've seen the original, you've pretty much seen this one, without the charm of the B-movie feel of the first one.

Two significant changes though: they fleshed out the character of Michael and there was an actual ending.

Not worth the 20 bucks for two tickets.

I have to say my guys and I loved this movie. Thought it was very well done and had the entire theater jumping at points. Very effective and I say its worth a watch if you are into the series or horror movies in general.

One question: did they mess with theme music or did they leave it alone? I think it's one of the all-time creepiest, most effective & haunting themes ever, and it comes from the simplicity of the piano notes - I'd hate to hear it all tricked out & industrialized.

The theme was kept perfectly intact and worked rather well, as expected.

Good choice, Mr. Zombie! That's a telling detail that actually gives me hope I might enjoy the remake.

Well I LOVED it...but I also loved House of 1000 corpses... I thought it was intense and it got me pretty scared.
And they had the trailer for Stephen Kings the Mist which I am so excited to see. I grew up on that story on audiobook driving to Maine with my mom. It took place in Maine so its super creppy to me.

I love Halloween. I enjoy watching all cheesy Halloween show and horror movies that are put on tv.
I think its kinda sad that trick-or-treating is not as popular for kids in most places now, coz of safety. Now its just carnivals and parties. It was fund seeing what costumes all of the little kids had.

The theme was redone, btw. It's still Tyler Bates, but now it's called "Halloween '07". It's not all that much different. I haven't seen it, but I'll wait for the DVD. It takes a great deal to coax me into going to a movie theater anymore. Why bother?

I thought it did a good job at being scary and the only criticism I had was that the character development of some of the victims was a bit lacking. I won tickets to the Hollywood premiere and Rob Zombie and his wife were present and he spoke before the film. He has a great energy about him and she is absolutely gorgeous. Fun movie.

I did, and I walked out of the theater and demanded my money back. The scene with the older woman essentially getting raped and degraded made me want to puke.

^That's one thing I'm not liking about a lot of the horror movies in recent years.

A lot of horror movies that are forced out quickly, like Hostel 2, or that are just poorly scripted, like Hills Have Eyes 1 and 2 and Devils Rejects, are relying on the cheap emotional horror of rape to get a powerful reaction.

Its a cheap fix to make an impact in a poor movie.

Look at the Saw movies. They are put out quickly, but they are very smart, carefully planned and written. So much of their impact is because of the detail, so they don't need to use cheap scenes like rape to make a powerful film.

It disgusts me that so many directors are making poor movies rather than finding a good script.

I've only seen the original, as far as scary goes...mostly ALL horror movies to me are more funny than scary (with the exception of VACANCY!!!! hehe)

I thought it was decently scary, and of course the music is great...altho a complaint would be...hello?!?!? finish up the movie with the theme music??

Other than that, good soundtrack and everything, I liked it as a horror movie, they is what they is, altho I have not seen the rest of the Halloweens.

I tend to agree with this, when it is JUST COMPLETELY NOT NECESSARY/RELATED. Like the opening of The Hills Have Eyes 2. That was disgusting, and I'm not that easily offended.

But it seems impossible to get away from it in horror movies.

Haha, I was reading that book Cunt, and she suggests standing up and screaming during a rape scene and demanding yr money back...well that's going a little too far for me. But yea...

^ I had no idea that these movies had scenes like that in them. Thank for the heads up, guys... I can't watch movies with those kinds of things in them. Absolutely disgusting.
