Default ooooww my back...goin to ER :(

I dont know if I did it at work,or at the gym workin my abs --in a way that noticeably stressed my back--but about a week ago my backs been hurtin.I can usually handle aches and pains, being one who doesnt particularly care for doctors. But its only getting worse and I cant deal with it.Woke up this morning in tears and it took leaning on the wall to SLOOOOOWLY stand up straight. I hope I just pulled something and its not more serious. Waiting on the lil ones to wake up and eat then I need to get checked out. Has anybody had a back injury here that turned out to be nothing? Its in my lower back and the only relief I get is arching my back, not bending.A few days ago,the only problem was I couldnt be on my back on stage...now I can barely walk.I have to work Wednesday...Ive finally got off to a good start on my boob fund...I cant miss work now Need encouragment I think... Thanks ladies..

The ER? Why not go to your regular doctor and save a couple hundred bucks? Even Medcheck would be a better alternative than the ER.

Yep..I agree. Believe me, I know pain...but sitting for hours in the ER with two little ones will be torture...plus the extra money. Sounds like you have a pulled muscle or pinched nerve. Take an Aleve or Advil(not tylenol...you want an anti-inflammatory) and ice it. Make an appt with your reg dr or go to a walk in clinic.

This sucks..but it isnt life threatening...you'll be ok. Feel better! And try not to pick up the babies..you'll aggrivate it.

The ER will just do Xrays and give you painkillers. Go to a chiropractor.

The only time a person needs to go to the ER for back pain is when it is accompanied by bladder or bowel incontinence or "saddle" area numbness.

I agree that going to an ER won't be of any benefit, but I'm very wary of chiropractors too.

hospital/ER/Doc visits are free for me-Tricare Prime covers it all.
I dont like to go to ER but I couldnt take it anymore. Went ahead, and they told me it was a pulled muscle...Gave me Naproxen for inflammation and Skelaxin to relax the muscle. I feel a lot better now....No way I coulda waited for an appt.;just gotta rest and hopefully Ill be ok tomorrow night to work.

Xiomara..... glad your back feels better. If the Skelaxin helped, it's very likely that your back pain is myofascial in nature, meaning it is from muscle strain. If you have Tricare, I'd suggest you get your PCC clinic to refer you to RMS (rehab medicine service) clinic. The physicians there are in the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and are the best for treating back pain. They will prescribe a variety of modalities including physical therapy, TENS units, medication, ultrasound heat treatments, injections, acupuncture, etc. to give you long term relief and prevention for your back pain. Out of these treatments, the most important one is to go to a few sessions of physical therapy to get a "lumbar stabilization program". The therapists should be able to teach you everything in 2 sessions adn send you home with a home exercise program. This will help strengthen the back and prevent future episodes.
