Dancing in Phoenix, AZ? Lots of questions from a Canadian

i'm a canadian thinking of moving down to the states, particularly phoenix, arizona, and had a few questions. i've never danced or even gone to a stripclub in the US so my questions may seem a little whack.

what kind of dancing goes on there? fully nude, topless, etc.? here we have fully nude lapdances at $20 CAD a song. what's it like there?

what about freelance fees? clubs keeping some of your earnings? and any other info about dancer charge$ would be great too.

in the province of ontario there is a smoking ban so no indoor public place can be smoking. i'm just wondering what kind of things i need to expect - are all clubs smoking down in phoenix? some are, some aren't? any info on that would be great.

last but definitely not least, what are some good clubs to work at?

There are soooooooooooo many threads on Phoenix. Please use the search function. All your questions (and then some) have been answered many times over.

FYI Phoenix business sucks ASS now. Real estate market is in the shitter and that has made everything bad.

thanks bridgette, but i'm not able to find anything specific for my questions--many talk about the clubs in phoenix, which is great for my last question, but many of my other questions aren't answered there. can you send me a link to specifics if you know any off hand?

that's good info to know about the business in phoenix. how bad is "in the shitter"? i've been told toronto business has gone way down, but it's still do-able. how much would the average girl average a night in phoenix?

if you could also answer my other questions that'd be great. through the search i found $10 dances in arizona--is this all clubs or just some? are there any $20+/dance clubs? i don't really need to know which they are at the moment but if they exist that would be good to know.

some simple questions i'm sure anyone from phoenix could answer to make my life a little easier.
    - is there smoking?
    - what's the deal with this topless+alcohol vs. fully nude no alcohol stuff? i heard this exists in some states, what is the case here for arizona?
    - is there a standard house/freelance fee?

if you or anyone could quickly answer my questions that would be great. 500 hits come up for "phoenix" in the search, and i don't have that kind of time.. i've been going through some of them but many don't have any info. if you're here reading this, please just quickly type out an answer it'll save me a lot of time.

    i appreciate it.

If you go to stripclublist.com that might narrow your search.

    lol brunettegoddess...

i wasn't planning on going only for work, i was planning on going for other reasons. i just wanted to know about working there so that i could make some money while i was down there (if there was potential).

i guess that's a silly question... thanks though.

sounds like it's pretty rough in phoenix. anyone with positive thoughts on phoenix?

I'm still doing well, but I have established clients and have worked at the same club for 5 years. I feel sorry for the girls who are working the floor and don't have established clients.

House fees are all different, refer to clubs and reviews for specifics: generally in the $25-55 range. AZ is the land of the $10 dance, some clubs have VIP area where you can sell $20 dances.

You need a $25 license to work in Phx. Use the search function. type in phoenix license. It works. I promise. Take the time to go through the threads. Honestly, EVERYTHING you asked has been addressed before. There is even a specific thread on being canadian and how to get an AZ license. It's your responsibilty to research the library of stripperweb information....not the librarians.

No smoking. No Drinking. Entertainers cannot drink while on the floor. It is against the law. In most clubs, only if you sell a bottle of champagne and "sign out" can you drink.
    Good Luck

Stay in Canada... I want to come up there! I know you said you have other reasons for going to Phoenix, but from what I hear, Dallas has been pretty good lately.

Britney is right - EVERYTHING you asked has been answered in the threads here many times over. Really, it has. All of it.

I would say the average girl in Phx is probably making $1-200 a night these days. Some will do better and some will do worse. The local economy is in the shitter - meaning it's really shitty. People are losing their houses, builders aren't able to sell alot of new houses they just built, people have maxed out all their credit and can't pay the bills. Fewer people are coming into town to spend money. Locals are tight with their money or just go out way less. NOT a good place to move to as a stripper.

^^Some girls are making more, but I would say EVERYONE is having more shitty nights than good ones. My friend Jackie came up to SW Fest in Vegas from AZ and told me it still sucks bad. She had to work every night for a week just to have money to come and is considering moving or traveling after hearing all of our traveling stories, lol.

For sure. Despite being a new dancer with hardly any regulars, in spring I could easily make $1-200 an hour. Now I'm lucky to make that in 6 hours. My gut instinct tells me fall isn't going to change this. Better wether won't change our economy.

Phoenix is a city that has had an established strip club market for years, but due to it's "wanna dance" atmosphere, has had historically lower priced dances.

There is nothing wrong with $10 dances (they used to be $5 until a few years ago), but to make money in that type of environment, a club has to have consistent high volume.

Plus Phoenix is one of the fastest growing metro areas in the country which has gone from a poulation of 2.5 million people in the mid 90's to about 3.7 million people today. Being a newer non-union city, it doesn't have the old established manufacturing sector and established lines of work other eastern or California cities it's size have, so as a result, there are a lot of service oriented jobs there, and newer corporate headquarters with lower paying jobs.

There are a lot of old school high income people there, and it attracts wealthy travelers, but the average citizen who has moved there to buy a new home and who has a middle of the road job, doesn't have a lot of disposable income as the pay scales there are not as high as in older established industrial cities. Being a right to work state, Arizona has never had as high of pay scales as many other places.

Too many people are moving there looking for a pot of gold, and to escape cold weather, and there is not enough high income employment to accomodate everyone.

Waaaay too many dancers have flocked here and the club volume hasn't increased to accomodate the heavy influx of dancers.

I have never cleared more than $250 a shift there at the clubs I was able to get hired at.

Before I would move to any city and expect to make a living off of dancing there, I would experiment with various cities short term to see which ones I would fare best in.
