Tradintional Jazz ballet or tap. I love to dance but i never had a formal training in dancing and I would love to learn but i fear there is not beginer classes for a 27 yr old women who wants to learn I know there a are plently of ballroom dance classes for adults but thats not what i want to learn. I would be happy with a hip hop class on a beginger level. Where should I look for a classes like this thank you.

Start looking at your local community college. You don't have to be pursuing a degree to take a class there.

You are never too old. I went to a Community College last year and we had such a mix in our class; There were even two middle aged guys who had never taken ballet before.

i'm 31 and did adult ballet classes and streetfunk/hip hop right up to getting knocked up. i did tap for a while but the ol' back didn't like it too much. i put my tap shoes on ebay in disgust.

there are heaps of beginner ballet classes for adults at most reasonable sized dance schools.

you'll be a bit crap to start with.. and it will hurt... but then your body will adjust.

You're not too old! Having been a dancer myself, my advice would be to start with a jazz and/or hip-hop class. Ballet is very technical, you may find it frustrating or boring at first. Once you become more familiar with your body and general dance moves...then sign on for ballet (it's great for your figure). Good luck. Have fun!

You're NEVER too old to learn. I would take ballet or modern technique class in addition (or even a strict pilates class) to help with overall placement.

I started studying modern dance at like 26/27. It's takes more work and etra stretching (I did a lot of foam roller release-type stretching). But it's CERTAINLY do able. Especially since you already do daily movement. You're already body AWARE.

Think of yourself as ageless. You'll look like a dork in the beginning. But, give it a couple of weeks to get it INTO your body. You'll feel so good!

Ballet is very important. I studied, Jazz, ballet, lyrical jazz, tap hiphop.
If you learn ballet it will make you much more successful if other types of dance. I don't think that you should be embarrassed just because you are older than some people. Many people wish they could dance. If you have the passion to want to do something don't let age stop you.

Yek had a good suggestion about the community college. Colleges are cheaper and and you get more classes. But i also highly recommend considering a studio. But be very selective about studios and classes. Some teachers suck and will train you in ways that might ultimately damage your body or just have shitty technique
    you should check out www.dance.net

You're never do old to lean. In fact, the older you get, the more you'll find yourself leaning.

Agreed. I think it's because it's something we choose for ourselves rather than the parents putting us in these classes. You have a genuine interest and pursue it.

K, you'll be fine. Enroll and have fun. Don't worry if you don't get it right away. If you're enjoying yourself, that's all that matters.

College classes are cheaper in the long run but, some ballet schools/studios offer free trial classes..I suggest checking online or going to your local ballet/dance store and looking at the bulletin boards or for flyers.
