Ew. I'm happy I pop my own, naked popcorn.
Because there ain't no tits on the radio

Is this the new asbestos?
you have got to be kidding I thought i was bad that every freaken kids toy has lead paint and now the popcorn toxic never thaught a child playing with a toy in the kitchen while his mom poped popcorn in the microwave was a deadly situation only in america I swear lol.
*confused look*
Does this mean that eating yummy chemicals may be bad for us?
If you think school is hard, try being stupid.
You know what else can cause lung disease? Pollution. And it's almost everywhere. I'm not letting the "what ifs" stop me from living my life.

"Popcorn lung"? I quit smoking so that I could get popcorn lung 20 years later? WTF!![]()
It's time to go retro, folks! Remember the Jiffy Pop Stovetop Popper? All you needed was a good old-fashioned stove and some timing skills. Hopefully that doesn't produce toxic fumes as well.
Now, all I have to worry about is my kids succumbing to smoke inhalation or burning down the house...

I'm not sure, HK...
Remember, the cancer patient is "a consumer who developed lung disease from the fumes of microwaving popcorn several times a day for years."
According to the article, "...staff measured airborne levels of diacetyl in the patient's home when he cooked the popcorn. The levels were 'similar to those reported in the microwave oven exhaust area' at the quality assurance unit of the popcorn plant where the affected employees worked..."
It's possible that only prolonged exposure to the level of heat produced by microwaves makes diacetyl toxic. IMO, stovetop popcorn doesn't really vent fumes in the same way...OR DOES IT?![]()
