    Default Tanning lotions---sizzle or not?

I don't tan very much, but when I do I have been using Designer Skin Ray of Light (per the advice of Glamazon, thx). The bottle is almost gone and now I am trying to decide what kind to get next. The Australian Gold lotion called Almost Famous intrigues me (because I am a sucker for packaging), and I am also thinking of some of the other lotions from Designer Skin.

For the experienced tanners, what does tingle/sizzle lotion do? I'm assuming it makes you tingle, but what does it do in terms of tanning? Would it be appropriate for someone with light skin like mine?

My goal is to get a decent base tan so that my spray tan will last longer. I don't really like tanning in the beds (and have sworn off them many times), but I love having some color and certain work outfits only look good if I'm tan.

    Advice please?

Light skin can be easily irritated by tingle, but it does get you darker. It increases circulation and bloodflow to the skin to help speed melanin production.

I would maybe stay away from anything with a high Tingle Factor, and anything Swedish Beauty. I'm fair and my dad nearly forced me to go to the hospital because of swelling after using my mom's Titanium.

Other than that though I've not had a problem with most other tingles. They do make you burn like hell and itch even worse, but it only lasts and hour or so.

Non-tingle fav's - Shrine, Ray of Light and Dolce.

Tingle fav's - Swanky Girl - Tiki Lounge, Supre - Vibe and Smoke (Hot), Brown Sugar - Tingle bronzer

Also this stuff with 4X bronzer on the bottle is awesome. Sorry can't remember what that one is called but it comes in a brown bottle with a big 4X on it.

I tried a sample of the Almost Famous today but it is too soon to tell anything. It does smell really good though, which is a bonus.

And this is funny, the salon had it for $64 a bottle, and some of their other ones are $74 a bottle. The lady's eyes got really wide when I told her I could get pretty much any tanning lotion I wanted for about $25 on eBay. I can't believe people pay those prices!

i like tinglers. but NOT for stand up. i feel like i'm going to faint. you feel like youre sunburned, but youre not really burning. youre red for a few hours afterwards (dont wear jeans to the tanning bed!) but im never swollen or anything. dont touch your face, even if you think your hands are clean! that hurts me so bad. and dont touch kids or animals for a while after because they they'll feel it too.

i definately get a much darker and faster tan with a tingler.

I'm glad you started this thread. Thanks to you I just scored a brand new bottle of Swedish Beauty Amaretto for $14 with shipping!

Swedish Beauty is the bomb, I think you'll like it. Incidentally, you do realize that is SB not AG?

I swear by Fiji's Firewalker... it's an extreme tingle lotion with bronzers. I get sooo dark after using it. It does make my skin really, really red for a few hours afterwards and it's always sore like I'm sunburned, but that goes away pretty quickly.

If I tan before work and can't use a tingle lotion, I use Fiji's Nano X, which has really really strong bronzers.

Be careful using ebay. A couple of years ago, I got SynergyTan Cupid's Spell - Venus so Lovely and it was rank. It smelled bad and was liquidy with chunks. At my salon they said that happens if it gets too hot. Like being left in the car. I'm not sure since I've left other lotions in my car accidentely and this didn't happen, but this crap was unsalvageable and I paid about 30 bucks for it and to top it off the seller refused to refund my money.

my amaretto just arrived in the mail and it looks good! It's not a sizzle but if I do bump up to a sizzle or tingle I will get it from ebay. Screw paying exhorbitant prices.

I hate tinglers. As they tingle, I picture my skin all dry and wrinkly. They drive me crazy! I like the Matahari line, it gets me super dark with no tingle.

Argh! I paid about $70 for my tanning lotion. It sells on ebay for $16.99. I'm happy you have shown me the UVB-filtered light.

Fiji and designer skin are my favorite brands. Almost famous is a great bronzer and a good value by Australian Gold. Try Fiji's Electra if you want to get the increased blood-flow without the redness and soreness of an intense tingle. It's a very mild tingle, but its also got caffeine and other skin stimulators that will increase blood-flow and melanin production without the pain. Also, designer skin makes a killer moisturizer that you should use even if you don't tan. It makes your skin ridiculously soft and if you do tan it last a zillion times longer.

Personally, I swear by tingles. They get me darkest, the fastest. So what if you look like a lobster for an hour?
