    Default eek.

My computer is... doing very, very strange things. I'm looking at having it repaired, but I might just get a new one (I'm weighing). I am, however, looking for cheap (don't lecture - my tuition is a lot). So, does anyone but lenovo use the trackpoint? I just hate the touchpad. I just hate it. It's a total dealbreaker.

First I would describe what these strange things are. Perhaps they can be remedied without the need for buying new hardware or software.

Also, I always use a mouse with a laptop, there are quite a few great wireless mice out there that plug into usb and store rather easily as well. I'd look into those, since it makes whatever pointing mechanism that is built into the laptop moot.

I am currently calling around to see about getting it repaired - I'm pretty sure it is not something I can do myself. Google has been unhelpful today. Essentially when I set my computer down, the screen switches off. The computer then (I surmise based on the 1/3 of the times that it comes back on) starts to reboot, but freezes before it is done. Like 100% of the time that I set my computer down. Picking it up is fine. If I sit still at my desk, it seems fine. I think there must be something going on in there. A friend of mine pulled up the keyboard recently to clean it for me. I blame him.

But my computer is pretty old - I don't know how much I can sensibly spend in repairs. However - like I said. Trackpoint thing is absolutely necessary for me. My computer and I move around a lot, so peripherals are not too convenient.

With our mobile division on the DJ service we use a very good mouse for moving around a lot. About half the size of a normal mouse and that is about it, just a very tiny USB plug for the wireless and it works brilliantly. Just look into it, it could end up making things a bit easier.
