I don't think you even know or appreciate how much you are an inspiration to so many dancers on this site. Every single smart girl here just rolls over and howls at the moon every time you post something so powerful or touching or insightful or overwhelming. The fact is, you have only just begun to tap your talents. I am so pleased that you have this validation, but honestly, in my mind, you have been so far ahead of everything commonly published in literary journals that they are lucky to have even found you. That means this is just the beginning, and you are the one in control.
Why thank you, TOO. This was a very thoughtful and touching thing to say, and a very eloquent way of saying it. I do indeed feel like I've gotten a new wave of inspiration toward this whole writing thing... by the end of spring semester, I was all, "Bah, the world doesn't need more writers," but maybe I should be a bit more optimistic now... heehee.... it sounds pretty sweet to be "the one in control."

Thank all of you guys. You are a super swell bunch. If anyone is still curious, Lena will be able to vouch for the suck/rule factor of my work shortly. Lena, if you're reading this, you have to be honest!!

It rules. Definitely. It's a very true kind of fairy tale, crafted like poetry.

It's definitely worth getting the Allegheny Review to read it.

toth, I just want to say a HUGE, hearty

    Congratulations!!!!

Is this your first-ever publication, or just your first in a lit mag of this caliber?

This is huge. You need to throw yourself a big giant celebration. (If you do it in LA, can I invite myself?? )

I gotta say, as pleased as I am for you, I'm not the least bit surprised. It's been apparent since you first came on the board that you are exceptionally talented in the craft of writing.

Furthermore, you are an all-around awesome, kick-ass kind of chick. In short: you rock!!!

I can't wait to pick up a copy of this!!! I also want to see if I can guess which story is yours!

Nic, this was really special. Thank you so much for the warm wishes. This isn't my first time being published, but it's the only one worth talking about. The other 2 times were in a now-defunct lit mag distributed for free in DC-area schools and libraries, and anyway that was years ago.

The best part of this whole achievement is, I only sent this piece out to the Allegheny Review, because I figured I'd have the best chance, and the other journals I was looking at don't take simultaneous submissions. So I'm at like, 100% acceptance right now. Woohoo!

I wasn't planning on throwing myself a celebration, because, I don't know, I'm shy-ass like that, also a nerd, buuuut... my next trip to LA does coincide with my birthday, and birthday parties are totally called for, so I think I could do a clever hybrid "Teef Fulfilled Her Goal of Getting Published Before Her 25th Birthday" fiesta. Oh yeah, and you totally come. Like hell yeah and seriously. It's gonna be nerdy (like maybe with Scrabble), but you definitely come.

And of course, thanks again to all you guys. I luvvs you. Heck, everyone can be invited... Nerdy Scrabble party whaaaat.

(Heehee, it must be naptime for me, I'm starting with the weird talking.)

YAAYYYY!!!!! I'm invited to Teef's Party!!!!!! Yayyy!!!!

(As for the nerdiness....you do realize that you're speaking to someone who has simultaneously battled a mild addiction to cocaine and a hardcore addiction to Scrabble, right?)

This is really well deserved and wonderful news. I'm so proud of our very own TOTH!

By the way, I wanna come play Scrabble! Can I? Please? My mom and I used to play it for HOURS on end when I was a kid and I'm pretty good at it. At least I was before all the drugs.

...that and I kind of just want to hang out with you.

You guys realize that you're turning me into an egomaniac, right? The last 2 nights I've had dreams about being fawned over by a bunch of strippers (while making omelettes in a hedge maze with Howard Stern, but fawned over nonetheless). I wake up gleeful and confused and wistful and puffed up with pride all at the same time.

I would love to have a Nerd Fiesta with anyone who is in the LA area or would like to travel to the LA area (as I'll be limited transportation-wise, so I can't overmuch come to you). My birthday is November 12th, so maybe that weekend? I'm warning you guys, though, I'm as dorky and absurd in real life as I come across on the internet. I don't drink or "go out," and I love cats, bacon, appending the word "ass" to all common phrases (i.e. "Goodnightass" and "I loveass you") and dictionaries best of all things in the world. But if you're okay with that, then I would love to hang out with everybody! As the date approaches I will send out PMs to people who have posted here. OMG social life. This is crazy because mostly I just talk nonsense to myself in my house.

I've always wanted to go to California. Maybe I'd go. I'm a big fan of movie stuff, and I enjoy travelling for very short trips. I also mostly talk nonsense to my self, and also my horse. He whinnies nonsense, so it works. It'd be cool to meet you, Yek, and whoever else!

This is excellent to hear! Good for you, now keep it up (says the artist who hasn't drawn a picture in a year, lol). Just the first step of many more, I'm sure.
