Default Sudden decrease in car's gas mileage

I finally got my AC fixed, and ever since then, I've noticed that my tank is emptying more quickly than usual. I know that the AC tends to do that, but I don't put it on all that much. Also, even before it broke, I don't recall having to fill up this often. I'm going to replace the air filter tomorrow in hopes that that's the problem.

Any other ideas about what might be wrong? My mechanic is out of town until later this week.

Run it for a tank with out the ac and see what it does. I'm thinking it's just the ac but it could be something else.

Sounds like the problem is a direct result of the repair. Assuming your AC compressor is belt driven, maybe they installed the wrong belt or it is improperly tensioned. That could put additional strain on the engine.

I'm with this guy. You're checking the ground where you park, right? No leaks?

Also I wanted to recommend you run 1-2 bottles of this stuff called "Guarantee to Pass". It's primarily used to help pass emissions, but it's good just to clean it out too. At $7, why not? You're car will thank you anyways.

I know; my car failed just BARELY and I put 2 bottles of this stuff in and then went to retake emissions and my car barely put out ANY afterwards

Should I get my fuel injector flushed by the professionals, or can I get away with DIY?

It cleans your whole system. All you do is wait until you have an empty tank, go to get gas and after fill up the tank, pour the whole bottle in. Then drive it to as empty as you can get it and then fill it up. Voila. Clean fuel system.

^I've always been afraid to put stuff in my tank. Like, I'm going to mess it up or something.

Nah. Don't be afraid. You just pour it in there; not much to mess up
