Men choose women based on attractiveness, no matter what they say

Looks most important factor, study finds

    THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
    Tuesday, September 4th 2007, 5:39 PM
WASHINGTON - Science is confirming what most women know: When given the choice for a mate, men go for good looks.
And guys will not be surprised to learn that women are much choosier about partners than they are.
"Just because people say they're looking for a particular set of characteristics in a mate, someone like themselves, doesn't mean that is what they'll end up choosing," Peter M. Todd, of the cognitive science program at Indiana University, Bloomington, said in a telephone interview

I remember reading somewhere that evolution has led men to look for things in a mate that make her seem fertile to him ( attractiveness, full hair, breasts, hour-glass shape) while the woman has been conditioned to look for things in the man that would seem to provide stability and security ( financial or otherwise ) for her.

The main thing men look for (subconsciously) is the hip-to-waist ratio. And while beauty standards vary widely throughout history and cultures, the ideal hip-to-waist ratio has remained consistent.

Yes, that is from the socio-biological theory of behavior.

Yeah I don't think so... and I don't even take the liberty to speak for everyone, but you can't just squeeze every guy into the same category. And though it might be the "norm", it still doesn't make men that prioritize on other ratios or other physical forms weird or crazy... at least that's what the voices tell me.

I said it was subconscious. And obviously there are going to be a few deviations from the norm, but this has been studied repeatedly and the findings have been confirmed many times over. I don't know any guy in the world who says he finds a woman attractive because of her hip-to-waist ratio, but nearly every male portrayal of an attractive woman from the Venus of Wellendorf to last year's Playmate of the Year depicts the same ratio. It's not a coincidence that women with this hip-to-waist ratio tend to bear children more easily.

Other than wearing flattering clothing and perhaps doing selective exercise, does anyone know of a way to actually improve hip to waist ratio? What if you're extremely boyish and slender? Like, um, me. (33-29-34) I'm not carrying fat on the middle.

Just curious. That should probably go in body business.

    Honestly?

So do women. People fuck based on looks, but looks ain't what holds a long term relationship together for BOTH genders.
