Default If you do your makeup/hair before arriving to work...

I am curious as to what your opinions are about applying your makeup and/or hair at home versus the club. I've been doing my makeup at work so far. The only reason I do this is because I take public transportation to work and I would feel (only a little) self-conscious with that much makeup on.

Outside of work I wear lipstick, eyeliner, and mascara. For work, I wear what I just mentioned plus foundation, concealer, eyeliner and blush. My work makeup is not severe or heavy looking; it's just not what I am used to in my personal life.

Doing my makeup at work takes up the majority of my time when getting ready blackstage. I guess, if I did my makeup and hair at home, I would be on the floor in like 5 minutes after arriving at the club. Most times I'm bored and less excited after laboring over hair/makeup in the back. Sometimes I feel like I am pampering myself. In order to psych myself up, I think "You took the time to look hot and all these men will appreciate it".

What I am is asking is, for the women that prefer to do makeup and/ or hair at home, how does it effect you mentally or prepare you for work?

    Thanks

I do my make-up at home a lot of the time but I do drive to work but I dont see it being a problem if I were to take public transport.

I like to relax and do my make-up slowly. When at work the dressing room is always full and noisy and I cannot relax and i really have to concentrate to do my eye make-up so I do much prefer to do it at home.

I do my make-up at home because I like to watch t.v while I do it. Plus, my money potential goes up when I have more time on the floor to hustle. I catch the late dinner crowd cause my make-up is perfect early in my shift. There are more custies to work on at firstt hat way.

I do my makeup at home too. I hate the lighting in my dressing room! If I dim the light in my bathroom it's perfect. I like to take my time while getting ready and I watch TV too! My dressing room is so crowded I almost feel claustrophobic in there. With my hair and makeup done when I arrive I get dressed and hit the floor and avoid dressing room drama.

I do it at the club.

I'd rather get to the club early as possible (so I can knock off earlier) and spend my time doing it there. I take ages doing it as well.

I prefer to do my hair and makeup at home. There's always too much going on in the dressing room at work during shift change and not enough room to lay out my makeup etc. I get it done faster at home than I do at work.

When I walk in with my hair and makeup done, I feel like I've walked in complete, and walk in as my stripper persona. I can spend the 8 hour shift working, and not burn up an hour wasting time in the dressing room and getting caught up in stupid conversations while getting ready. Plus, since my hair straightener and makeup aren't out, I don't have five girls asking me to borrow my shit.

I prefer to do mine at home, because I find I always spend more time on it and my makeup always comes out looking HEAPS better. I can concentrate more at home.

I have too many friends at work and when I get to work and try to do my makeup in the dressing room I get too chatty and start socializing and get distracted, so I end up rushing to get on the floor in time, so my hair and makeup aren't ever up to the standard I'm capable of!

Depending on what time I decide to go to work, I'll either do it at home or at the club. If I'm coming in super early, like before 7pm I'll just spend the time doing it at work while waiting for customers to roll in, as there is always TONS of space in the dressing room the earlier it is. But if I'm going in late or on a busy night such as Friday at 1am, I'll do my hair and makeup AND get dressed up so that I walk into the club automatically catching custys.

dressing room is really crowded so I do mine at home. The mirrors are almost always taken up by girls doing their hair and makeup.
Since I wear glasses, I have to get really up close and personal with the mirror to see what Im doing for my eyemakeup, and at work I cant do that.

I like being ready for work when I get there. When I do my stuff at home, I am preparing myself to be ready for when I step into the club. The minute I am in the club I am my work personna, not normal me, and being already made up helps with that.

i do my make-up at home unless i'm running late or going to work from school. i dislike doing it at work because it's sometimes crowded near the mirror. also, i would rather be in my computer room (where i do my make-up) listening to my music with my dog by my side. it's much more relaxed than the sound of girls telling "ohmahgah! super dramatic blah blah" stories while i hear faded club music in the background.

i used to do it at home, then i started doing it at work. sometimes i did it at work because at one club we only had to be there, not be ready, by 7 to get a free house fee. it depends on the club. now i usually do mine when i get there because it doesnt take me very long anyway.

It depends on how much time I have, but I generally do it at home. The lighting is better.

i always do it at home so i don't have to spend any more time than necessary in the dressing room. That way i'm usually the first girl on the floor, i can avoid the drama, no one asks to borrow my stuff, or tries to steal my stuff, etc.

Strip club dressing rooms = pits of despair.

Spend as little time as possible in there.

That sums it up right there. I like to spend as little time in the DR as possible. Drama, other girls bad attitudes and negativity, etc...I don't want any of it to rub off on me.

Plus, when I walk in the door looking all put together, I know I can catch a few eyes of guys. Thus increasing my chances.

I can understand not wnating to look to put on when riding the bus, but from what you described I think it'd be fine. I also find when I spend less time in the DR I am in a better mood to make money.

I agree with everyone else. I always do my makeup at home because it is much more comfortable and relaxing for me, not to mention better lighting. Also when I do it at home I don't have to bring all my makeup with me to work, which reduced the chances of it being stolen.

After getting $150 worth of makeup stolen from me one night, I try to do it at home.

That's what I was going to say. If you have a ton of makeup with you at work, people will ask to borrow it. 9 times out of 10 you will never see that makeup again. And if there is something they like that you won't share, they could steal it.

When I house danced I would go in with my makeup done so I could get out of the DR as soon as possible. Even if I am in a club where I get my own dressing room I still don't bring a ton of stuff with me, and I lock my shit. Better safe than sorry.

I wish I could do it at home.........but going on the bus wearing crazy long extensions and big curly stripper hair, fake eyelashes and full makeup at 7pm heading in the direction of a well-known strip club and getting off at the stop across the street from it and walking down the road during rush hour traffic is not exactly fun, I tried it when i first started dancing in PDX.. no more. I go in incognito.......no makeup, hair extensions tied back, casual casual clothes. It would help me get more in character if I could already be "done" when i leave the house though

for me, i put my ipod on and do it at the club. I keep it to a bare minimum, and something about doing it there helps me get more into charecter. plus i get to the club early, usually around 8-9 and its dead then so plenty of space in the smoker DR. But the smoker DR at the body shop is pretty big, and I usually snag the individual one, so I never have many problems.

I do my makeup at home. I sometimes may curl or flatiron my hair at work, but generally when I get to work, once I put my costume on I am ready to hit the floor.

I don't think having your makeup on while riding public transportation is a big deal. Of course it depends on the type of people riding the routes you take, but I'm sure you're not the first girl on public transportation with makeup on. You could merely tie your hair back if you want to downplay a little, and do a quick brushing when you get to the club in order to get on the floor quicker.

Okay, this is probably bad, but I usually do mine in the car on the way to work. There's usually a lot of traffic and I get bored. I do lashes and finish the hair at work. Unless one of my friends is at work, the dr's full of complaining women.
