Read an article from $pread (www.spreadmagazine.org) that claims strip clubs are starting to give $2 bills out as change, instead of the typical $1's. The article cites Reuters, stating that in 2001, businesses ordered $92 million in two-dollar bills, and by 2005, $122 million. Reuters doesn't say it's all because of strip clubs, but the article reaches that conclusion.
Then they point to Baby Dolls in Dallas for why the $2 bill is a successful strategy.
1) It's harder for the custys to make change with it, so they overtip the waitresses.
2) The custy that refuses to tip one dollar bills doesn't mind tipping one two-dollar bill, as though the quantity of the paper, not the value, is what's important.
3) If you have a wallet filled with $2 bills, most people in Dallas assume you've been to Baby Dolls, so the custys make sure they get rid of them before leaving.
I LIKE this idea! But I haven't heard of a US club that uses it (besides Baby Dolls, now). Anyone?
