    Default Is it possible..?

To get sick from a frozen meal that's "bad"? I ate a weight watcher's meal today for lunch and it wasn't very good to me, the taste I mean. It just didn't taste quite right, but I'd never had the chicken carbonara before so I figured that's just what it was supposed to taste like. I started feeling nauseous like 2 hours later and I came home from class and puked 3 times and STILL feel nauseous. Was it possible the weight watcher's meal was bad?

    yeah, it's definitely possible.

freezing food doesn't kill the bacteria. it just significantly decreases the rate at which the bacteria propogate. so if the food was bad before it was frozen, it would still be bad when you heated it up and ate it.

it's especially important when dealing with frozen meat to never REfreeze it. once it defrosts you must eat it or throw it away. if the frozen dinner had thawed at some point and then been refrozen before you heated it and ate it, then it would be very likely to make you sick.

if you got sick only 2 hours after you ate it it is unlikely it was the frozen food that made you sick, but whatever you ate before that. Unlikely, but *possible*

Honey, NEVER eat anything that doesn't taste right to you !

Food quality isn't what it used to be, I find stuff in my food at least a few times a mth..Mostly because I'm aware of what I'm chewing.
Also, you don't know if the dinner was left out then refrozen either at the market or in transit. Think of how many times someone goes to the store changes their mind about an item and it sits at the register waiting to go back or the other scenario where someone changes their mind and lives an item on a shelf or some other place it doesn't belong. Not to mention food that sits out before it's restocked..
All that food ends up back where ever it belongs waiting for that poor unsuspecting person ( like you) to buy it !
I only get my cold/frozen groceries from the back..I NEVER grab anything from the front row.
    My new love...is me !

Food poisoning actually takes about a day to take effect. The chicken carbonara DOES taste funny. Hahha. But no, it's probably something you ate earlier.

actually, it depends on the type of baceria. showing sypmtoms within 2 hours of ingestion is fairly common. they can even set in within as little as 30 minutes of ingesting the contaminated food.

I'm feeling a little better this morning, still a bit nauseous but I don't feel like I have to vomit anymore like I did all day yesterday. Thanks for all the info, I don't have much time to cook so I pretty much live off lean cuisine and the like. I'll be sure to grab it from the back next time
