Default What muscles would you say get worked the most

Maybe this belongs in body business but I see it as more of a newb question. Feel free to move around.

I haven't stripped yet and I think I'll wait until I turn 21 in March. I could probably strip before then but I figure it's easier that way and it gives me time to lose weight and find outfits and stuff.

I'm trying to hit the gym more and I'm wondering what muscles do you find you work the most when stripping? I realize that dance in general forces you to work everything (I used to do ballet etc god I'm so out of shape) but I guess what I'm asking is, when you first started, where were you the most sore?

It was always my calves that hurt. Sometimes after a hard night they still do. I know these are muscles but I always have issues with my damn knees. Bruises all over and sore as hell!

A little word of advice, I wouldn't worry about buying too many outfits and such before you start. Probably two pairs of shoes (never own just one, they could break) and four or five outfits to start, in my opinion. A dancer's style is not only what she likes and what looks good, but what works with her body when she's on stage. Some girls dance in a way that a dress looks silly, and some girls don't like taking off two pieces, they want it simple. Until you actually work a few shifts this is something you won't know. Also, don't try to be really complex with your outfits. A few key accessories will go a long way and guys like simple outfits that look good on that particular girls body. It's all about finding what's right for you, in looks and ease of use.

Thighs thighs thighs. Quite a few weeks before I started dancing, I had begun doing a lot of exercise targeting that area and I really felt and saw results, but it was not enough to prepare me for dancing.... During my first night of dancing, my legs quivered so much, I just clung to the pole basically for support. And it was actually difficult to walk to my car afterwards lol. The next day my muscles were sore, but I made it. But when I woke up after my second night of dancing.... I couldn't get out of my car, I couldn't bend down, I couldn't fully straighten my legs... Those muscles were worked! But after not even two weeks of dancing, I see more definition and so much more firmness than I did after weeks of regular workouts.

From dancing on stage: Pecs, Trapezius, Arms. I do a fair amount of pole tricks. These will be less sore if you don't do them, or limit them.

Thighs get worked more during private dances. And wrists, from holding myself up, but I don't think you can prepare for that.

Thanks guys. I've been mostly working on my abs since I feel like that's my lacking area from an aesthetic sense but I'll be sure to work my legs and especially upper body. I tend to neglect that part.

My calves the first few days because of the shoes. Soreness from actual dancing was primarily in my thighs. And once I tried pole tricks (well, climbing it anyways, nothing too fancy), my arms hurt a lot. I didn't have good technique and it was super painful.

Granted, it's not muscles, but allow your feet to develop some callouses. You'll be on your feet all night. I got regular pedicures, but I told them to leave the callouses on the bottoms of my feet alone.

After dancing, I've noticed a significant difference in my legs, abs and arms. I actually have muscle now!

But yeah, I remember my first week. Talk about the toilet, it even hurt to get myself out of bed!

My thighs end up pretty jellified (thank gawd they have tall chairs in the LD section, or it'd be much worse!) and my biceps/traps get extremely sore. Ditto on the callused feet. Double ditto on the bruised knees. Make sure you're getting enough iron in your diet!

That's funny. My last two jobs caused my feet to start getting pretty calloused (standing and walking for hours on hard surfaces in regular heels) but since I started dancing, they've almost disappeared. I guess I attribute that to padded stripper shoes and carpeted floors?

    In Order of my experiences:

Calves- from the shoes and super sore feet

Quads- esp since my first club was air-dances, nothing to lean on

Shoulders & Biceps- learning and getting used to pole tricks
With all the stupid things guys will say, stay cool.

" My God....

Quads... especially after a lap dance... these aren't muscles, but knees and feet. For the first 3 months or so I couldn't walk when I got out of bed. Knees were swollen and feet screwed from the shoes.

My thighs felt thoroughly worked most nights.
Pole work will really kick your chesticle-muscles ass though.

I don't do stage so it's mostly quads for me.

Also, your dominant arm, even if you don't do pole tricks. It's the one you use to hold the pole, lean on and adjust your position. It still hurts if I dance to much in a week.

Core first and foremost, you use those muscles more than anything.

Then legs then arms (switch arms and legs if you are a pole monkey).

My forearms killed me for a while, to be able to hold myself on the pole. I was constantly stretching out my hands. My back was one too, to be able to stabalize myself on the pole. Your transverse abs, the muscles on the inside of your body that run around your spine.

But, I was majorly out of shape! Mostly, I hurt from bruises!

I have really sensitive feet, plus the shoes are made very narrow at the tip, so my toes hang over, and that's what got me on stage. Being in regular heels on hard surfaces all day (your old job) IS probably harder on your feet though.
